Barlow Block, ORGAN'S, - - - - Americus, Ga. were really wondeiful. When Miss Lulu hustled me about the stage much to the amuse ment of tlie audience, 1 too, in common with tbe public, felt that her power was wonderful. While on tbe stage Mr. Darker Invited my attention to the position of her right hand when she lifted Maj Hudson, it indicated physical force oil her part, and yet not enough to have lifted so much avoirdupois. When I left the hall that night the power exercised by Miss Lulu seemed mystic, and yet I had come to question whether there was not deception on bei part. The next day I commenced testing the sev eral (cats which she performed Soon I ascertained that the lever age which she had on my person in the use of both the umbrella and chair enabled her to whirl me about on the stage and worry me no little. Mr. Clay and I readily discovered the secret of her resisling pressure on one foot. When Messrs. Clay and Baglcy were exerting them selves to press the billiard cue to tbe stage floor 1 noticed that the cue rested in the palm of her band while the back of her liana rested on ber knee. The secret slight by which she kept the chair from the floor against tbe pressure of many strong men puzzled me. 1 felt inclined to expose her tricks, but this being n mystery I hesitated. In the mean time I was called to Lumpkin early last week and while there met Col. Lowe, of Buena Vista, who had seen her exhibit the night before her performance at Americus. 1 was endeavoring to explain some of ber feats to him and some other gentlemen and while doing so it occurred to me, for the first lime, that Miss Lulu cculd easily prevent one side of the chair from being pressed to tbe floor by bolding the rim of tbe chair bottom in the palms of ber light hand while the back of the wrist of the same hand rested on her knee, the left hand at the same time holding as a lever one of the tall posts of a chair, which was about the position of her hands. It will be remembered, too, that the manager admitted tbat the chair could be forced to the floor in spite of Miss Lulu, if forced sidewise. lilii.l-, T i* powder Hri-njftli an l ' than the or<lii .^Run-'o: in can*. liOYAI IUKING TOWfiKi: Wall ri»reet.
