WINTER SIGHTS ON THE NEVA. ’
1 In* Kamoirdii from the ley /out—Tht
•ShI ft •Footed Siberian Keindeer.
Every year, at the I leginning of Jan*
i nary, a number of 8amoied families—
triU-s inhabiting the shores of the Arctic
ocean—make their appearance in St. Pe
tersburg. bringing some thirty or forty
reindeers ami a dozen roughly-con
structed sleighs. They erect a tent
the banks of the frozen Neva, and
near it corral their reindeers with a sim
ple rope guard. Their object is to fur-
tiisli sleighing parties with the rare s|>ort
of riding alter the wing-batted Silterian
deer. Their costume is well adapted to
their home in the icy zone. Over a com
mon shirt is worn a suit of reindeer
skins, consisting of a baggy pair of pant
aloons and a jacket, the hairy side of the
skin being outside. The jacket, which
reaches m arly to the knee, is buttoned
up Itehind. The cap of deer skin is well
wadded and ornamented with long fur
ear-laps. The high and roughly-con
structed I toots, also of deer skin, reach to
the knee, and have thick soles. The ef
fect of this picturesque garb is
destroyed by covering it with
a long, common cotton print gown, well
well wadded and quilted, with sleeves so
wide that no movement of the arm is
discernible.

The tent erected to accommodate their

Indian hut of the American frontier, of

Another Failure,
BTJT NOT ANOTHER. BUST T
Of course everybody heard of the|Bargain Store having sold
out, busted, and made assignments, and did everything else that
would tend to bring us out of existence, but we are glad to state
that we are not busted, nor have we sold out; nor have we any
intentions to do so.
On the contrary, we believe that we have tried to monopo
lize the Dry Goods trade ol Americus, and we now not alone
believe, but wo assert that we have succeeded beyond our ex
pectations. The Bargain Store to-day stands without a rival,
and offers unprecedented bargains. We are not stunned by the
announcements of others selling off at cost on accout of chang
ing firms, failures or assignments. We reJy entirely upon ths
facts, that our stock was, and is bought originally at half and
often less than half their value, which enables us to undersell
any and all, no matter what their pretenses. As’evidence of our
assertion, we will state that we will duplicate any bill bought
from the so called selling out stores, and allow you a discoun
ot 5 per cent, on your purchase, (domestics excepted, which
we al ways sell at factory prices.) Another evidence of our suc
cess and in expectance of our doing the largest business here,
the Bargain man will go East very shortly and buy the largest
stock for Spring and Summer wear that was ever exhibited in
Americus. < )ur stock now, is we think, the largest and best
selected in the city, and in order to sustain our reputation as
stock at special low prices. We have a few heavy Ladies Wrap*
and Gent’s Overcoats left, which rather than keep them over
till next fall, we will sell at about one-third their_value.
Whenever in need of Dry Goods, Clothing, Shoes, Millin
ery and Notions, call on the Bargain Store and get their prices
before buying. Respectfully,
IS. UVE_ COHEN,
THE BARGAIN MAN.
