MERRY CHRISTMAS-
It l» usual for the editor to show
his erudition hy writing an edito
rial on the origin and proper obser
vance of Christmas. Presuming
that our readers all know as much
about Christmas as we do, aud
know how to get the most enjoy
ment out of the day, we shall de-
jit.-t from the usual custom, and
wish tlie llBiaiHUKK family a merry
Christmas in the fullest sense of the
greeting.
TRUCK FAHMiNC.
The farmers in and around Mar-
shallvllle have found out that there
is money In raisingfroits and vege
tables, and every year more engage
iti It, unt-l that section has become a
veritable garden s|«(t, much to the
profit of all. The follow ing, from
tlie Mnrshallville Times, will give
some idea of the extent to which
the business is carried on :
■‘A few weeks since we staled that
Johnson A Vun Tassel had radishes
enough growing to "colic an army,"
and since visiting their vegetable
garden we And our estimate by far
too small. It is just impossible to
estimate the quantity they will
raise. They will begin to ship to
day aud whan they will get through
is past finding out. as they have
them by the million in every stage
from the sire of a hen’s egg to seed
just germinating. These plants are
being grown in twelve l«‘ds, each
311 feet long hy six wide, and so
constructed tli'at they ean be easily
protected from frost, and during a
heavy freeze they ean he protected
by artificial heat and kept proving
briskly during our coldest weather.
They wJU raise two or more of
theso crops anil ttien plan! their
heils with eukes, beets, tomatoes,
etc., for early vegetables for ship
ping. These gentlemen have their
means, energy and tael to give their
enterprise a thorough test, and we
predict this the Iwginuiiig of a new
aud very important industry for
tills sectiou. These gentlemen will
begin planting Within a foctnjglit
an ewlinrd of more than one hun
dred acres', uud propose to engage
largely in the vegetable and fruit
business. Mr. Van Tassel! will
quadruple his capacity for evapor-
iug fruits before another crop rlpeus
aud during Juext summer mouths
Will put in circulation thousands of
dollars paid for fruit and the em
ployment of hands, that w ill l>e felt
and appreciated.”
Our .farmers near tills city would
find truck funning, systematically
carried on, very upifltutfic, and we
wish some of them could in- Induced
to engage in it. .

properly.
Approved Nov. I. isst. Cmtersvllle, On.
We will only remark that a num
ber of cities pursue the same ourse,
and not only that, but the citizens
offer further inducements to manu
facturers to locate by donating laud
and money.
•‘Blond Will Tell."
Yes, the old adage is right, liti if
the liver is disordered and the blood
becomes thereby corrupted, the bad
“blood will tell” in disease of the
skin and throat, in tumors and ul
cers, and in tubercles in the lungs
first stages of consumption) even
although the subject he descended
in a straight line from Richard
t ,'oeur de I,ion, orthe noblest Roman
of them all. For setting the liver
in order no other medicine in the
world equals Dr. Pierce’s “Holden
Medical Discovery.” Try it, and
your "blood will tell” the story of
its wonderful efficacy.
