The little folks have been unusu

not more so than their elders.
Saturday of last week Miss
Annie Belle Roney and her

quite a large number of their young
friends, the entertainment being in
honor of Miss Annie’s birthday.
An elaborate dinner was highly en

and plays, etc., occupied them until
late iu the afterno ,n.
On Friday afternoon, from 4 to B,
the Misses Prince and their brother
Cliffentertained numerous friends,
in spite of the weather, all had a
merry time.
Yesterday evening, at the resi
dence of Mr. C. M. Wheatley, Misses
Charlie and Mattie had a tine Christ
mas tree from B until late in the
evening. A large number were in
attendance, nn.l a splendid time was
Itad.
Yesterday afternoon Mrs. H. C.
Storey gave a very unique and
pleasant “Christmas ladder," *’i
honor of Iter little brother, Master
Harry W. Olessner, to which a
dozen couples of his yourg frientls
were invited.
An ordinary step ladder was
placed at one end of the parlor and
beautifully decorated with holly
and all kind of greens, etc. Min
gled with these decorations were a
large number of wax candles, and
presents of ail kinds, including can
dies, dolls, firecrackers for the boys,
nick-nacks for the girls, and every
thing that could be thought of to
make the young people happy and
contented.
The invitations were issued for 4
o'clock, and notwithstanding the
bad weather, all were present, and
from that hour until 8 lu the even
ing the young folks had it all to
themselves. And right heartily did
they enjoy themselves. Those pres
ent were;
Master Harry W. Olessner, John
Charles Wheatley, Eddie Bheffh-ld,
Joe C. Roney, jr., Freddie Crisp,
Frank Burke, Dave Brinson, Chas.
Brinson, Merrell Callaway, Abner

It was a gay oceas'on for the

From all this it will he seen that
our little people are determined to
have as much ran, and have it in as
nice a way, as the older ones.

What Is going to take place next

able to say Just what was going to
happen. ■ It would have been a dif

of old to foretell just what will
happen, hut notwithstanding all
litis, the Xmas season will be a gay

among our young people.

The question, "what is a chump?”
has been asked quite frequently
during the past week. Just .rhat
a chump is, is difficult to say, but
there are several kinds of chumps.
Now, there Is the good, goody
chump, wlto is just too angelic to
live. There is the funny chump,
wlto is generally known by the
uutuher of chestnut* lie springs on
his unexpected Companions. Then
comes the liarmless chump, wlto
never does anything except exist,
never worries anybody or makes Ills
friends sny swear words. Next is
tlie gushing chump, who just para
lyze* you with his nonsense and
Mattery. Other kind* could be
found, too numerous to mention,
hut let us hope we will all be spared
from the chump.
Two of our young business men
