WHAT IS RECORDED ON THE PAGES
OF THE TABLET.
Boms Patches •' Bontimont-Bomo Re
flection,-Some Idle Chips From Hare
and There.
It doe. not belong to the duties
of the Tablet to Invade the domains
of the province of the emotional and
the poetical. The Tablet has for Its
domain only the record of unbiased
toots—the photography, oold and
uucolored, of every day, common,
place life, but under circumstances
which now surround the Tablet, It
wiU be pardonable for a few Idle
digressions from the worn paths.
It Is always a painful effort to
say “good bye.” Not merely tbs
passing adieu wjien persons have
been slightly and casually thrown
together foi a brief or long time,
when there Is some expectanoy of
meeting again, and of tolling and
living togotber. But the good bye
—the lost word that you are to ad
dress to those whose associatlous
with you have revealed a kindred
spirit aud a sympathetic nature,
whose Impulses, In a common
human way, move In unison with
your own—to say "good bye’’ when
there Is a probability that you may
never know them, persons again—
to say good bye to these produces a
subdued sadness softly bitter aud
and strangely sweet, sweet though
the; burning tears often trickle
down the blushing cheek—sweet
though the faltering Ups often re
fuse to articulate the fated word-
sweet, unspeakably sweet In the
sublime pathos of Its very Sorrow,
NO "GAS AGAIN.
Tho Qa. Tank Empty at Eleven O'clock
One night It Is gas, and the next
It is the eleotrlc lights that are no
good.
The Becorder Is not a kleker,
and dislikes making complaints os
much as anyone, but It is a duty we
owe the public to put foots before
our reader-.
Three night last week, we believe,
the lucandesceut light could not be
usod, one night the street cars were
left out on the line, and one night
the gas west out. Monday night
the Inuandesoent lights were no good
again, and loot night at eleven
o’clock the gss wont out.
The trouble stthe gss factory lost
night was simply that there was
no got In the tank, It all having
been used up, and np to three
o’clock this morning no efiort had
been made to replenish the tank,
True It is that the company Is cut
ting Its own throat by snob service,
and probably they are doing all la
tbelr power to remedy it, but itdoea
not look so when the gas Is allowed
to run down, with no effort to make
more.
The people have rights as well as
thecompany, and while a poor gas
might be tolerated, no gas at all
will not be.
