How to Osin in Flesh.
It is not what one eats that makes
one fat, but the food that is prop

Increases the flesh. The food that
lies and ferments In the stomach or
passes undigested Into the viscera,
does tho system much harm, as
they say, It makes a mau thin to
carry so much effete matter around

THE WEEK'S DOINGS IN AMERICOS
SOCIETY.
1 Delightful Thanksgiving German—
At the Open House—Other Points
Pertaining to the Boelsl Side of Our
City,
Devotees of sooiety continue to
enjoy themselves to that wonderful
extent so often mentioned as being
characteristic of our oity. The past
week has been anything but an ex-
ceptlbn to the rule, and agalu it has
to be mentioned that the youug
folke during the past seven days
were continually being made hap
py. When there was no entertain
ment, they found other means of
enjoyiug life, and when there was
some especial occasion it is need
less to say that the gathering was
fraught with worlds of pleasure for
the participants.
Amerlcus people are so const!
tuted that the sunny, lovely side of
their nature is always seen, and It
is a source of grave doubt, regard
less of all rules of human nature
upon the subject, whether there is
any other side They always man
age to enjoy themselves, and there
is no place in the State or anywhere
where joy and happiness is so con
stantly present.
...
The principal social attraction
during the week was the Thanks
giving German given at the club
rooms. It was ail occasion long to
be remembered by those present
and that they will long remember
it is indisputably attested to by the
many enthusiastic remarks con
cerning It heard*oti all sides since.
Aud how could they help enjoying
it. The Americas young ladies
were nearly all present, and this
fact is enough to insure the delight
experienced by the young men.
Music was furnished by the Ital
ian band, and from an early hour
till Friday displaced Thanksgiving
day merry feet chased the nonrB in
and out. For those present it was
truly"a night of thanks, and he-or
she who didn't express some sort
of gratitude for the delightful
evening, truly was possessed of an
unfeeling temperament.
*#”
Thanksgiving day witnessed
many happy gatherings, . sonie
family and some friendly, but all
happy. Of course the turkey was
present at all as without this
American- emblem the day would
almost lose its significance. There
were many dinings, and almost
every family in the city had a gath
ering of some sort. The day was
happily spent by all, and it was
only a source of regret that the
visits are not more frequent.

Miss Annie Lou DeJarnette, one
of Atlanta's most charming and

MINOR MENTION.
Short Items Gathered Together And
.Ptacod Under This Head.
Amerlcus society, together with
the rest of the city, saw George
Wilsou Friday night. The opera
house was filled to overflowing,
and everybody enjoyed the show.
Many were out iu evening
coBlume, aud the fair ones were
even fairer than ever, as they
laughed until tears Tolled down
their cheeks, and then laughed
again at the comicalities of George
aud his troupe.
Aud then there were feature*
where sentimentality governed.
The singing was excellent, and If
there is one thing an Amerlcus au
dience does appreciate it Is sweet
music. Will Walling’s voice and
singing was especially admired,
and It deserves especial mention.
He completely captivated his hear
ers. all of whom enthusiastically
praise his etlorts.

The erowd will be immense, and
here is a chance for Amerlcus to
advertise herself in that seotion of
the State.
Of course they have heard of our
many advantages and great pro

what we have and demonstrate to
them the fact that half has never
boen told.
Many of our oitlzeus have signi
fied their intention of being pres

and pleasure to them to conduct a
representative float of their city.
By all means let’s join with our
sister city iu her display.
