All communlcatlona should be addreaaed to AMKRICUB PUBLISHING CO, The present legislature shows disposition to settle the disputed question ot betterments. The Macon EveningNewscleaned up all the papers Monday, publish log the President’s message in full that afternoon. , The primary will shelve the negro politicians, unless they can induce some one to run against the nominees of the primary. Mr. Twitty is having a hard light to get his bill making lawyer’s fees a nullity In a note, passed. Bank ers, cotton factors, and merchants are doing their best to defeat It, Though our hotels aud boarding houses are all full, am^ no houses are to rent, people continue to lo cate in Americus. Such a growing boom has never been known In this part of Georgia. Notwithstanding the severe 1 son the late election gave the lie' publican party the Senate seems determined to adopt Reed’s tactics in order to pass the force bill. Lot them do It, and one or two more elections will not leave a Republi can in either branch of Congress. In case Ex-President Cleveland visit, the Georgia Chatauqua, the Albany News will turn thG’’Queen of Southwest Georgia over to him Neighbor, Mr. Cleveland Is already married, and pretty MrB. Cleve, land might be present and make It an embarasBlng occasion. THE ASHEVILLE CONVENTION From present indications Oeor gla will be well represented at the coming convention of the Southern States Immigration Bureau Asheville, N. C. Dec. 17tb. In addition to the large Dumber of delegates appointed by Gov, Nortben, other appointments are announced this morning. Quite a number of cities and counties are making appointments, and it is ex' pected that at least fifty, and per haps over one hundred delegates, will represent the Empire State of the South. All Southern States Beem to be taking an unusual interest in this convention, and it will be the most representative gathering of the kind Aver held in the South. The good suob a convention can do is Incalculable, and its work will be watohed with great interest. THE CITY PRIMARY. The mass meeting at the opera honse Tuesday was certainly large enough to demonstrate to the most doubting that It was representative, and the resolutions adopted, and the prompt action in appointing committees and naming an execu tive committee was' proof ’evident that the Democratic Voters were in favor of a primary for nominating city officers. The executive committee has called a primary for Thursday, Dec. 11th. While the time is short, it will make the campaign a very lively one while it.lasts. As noted In our news columns, two candidates are before the peO' pie for Mayor, Hon. John B. Fel der and Capt. J. A. Cobb. All the interest seems to center in the race for Mayor, and It is probable that the two gentlemen mentioned will have the field to themselves in the primary, but there are all ready in dications that another candiaate will be in the field on election day. As to whether Capt. Cobb is eli gible to the office bf Mayor, that Is a question for each voter to an- swer himself. His friends stoutly assert that he is, while bis oppon ents assert that he is not. . Let tba abort campaign be con ducted in a good humored manner, asm0iffitrd(>0» of opinion purely •wwssa friends, and at its close there wQl be nothing but th% best illng among alL - ___ mistake if you oc casionally give your children Dr. Boll’s Worm Destroyers. .It is a nice candy and while it nbver does harm it sometimes does a world of good.
