Court has adjourned, and yester
day the throng which has been gath
ering there for the past few weeks,
was not to be found.
The building looked deserted, and
the busy scene of last week was
transformed Into one of quietude.
Judge Pilsbury was holding down
his office, and busying himself with
a lot of musty looking papers.
Clerk Allen was at h!s post, and
was kept going ill d»y recording
deeds. The time* u.v be hard,
but Americus real e<ual>, always
active, seems to be more so now
than ever.
Ordinary Speer, too, was moving
his pen along rapidly, for the
harder timeB get the more the peo
ple marry. And the Judge is al
ways ready and willing to give you
permission to go through the or
deal.
The rest of the building would
have been deserted, excopt that
case came up in chambers court
before Judge Fort. This case oc
cupied the whole day, but was con'
tinued. It was on a ruling from
Schley county, and was ably han
dled by Messrs. Hinton and Cults
on one side, and Messrs. B. P. Hol
lis, Henry Lumpkin and W. H.
MeCrory on the other.

A little negro had the misfortune
to bleak his collar bone Sunday,
down In that portion of the city
known as “bull neck.”
The boy was playing with some
other children, on* of whom pushed
him down, the bone breaking with
a snap. Possibly the name given
to the vicinity may explain why it
was that the collar bona instead of
