Mr. Joe F. Johnson came up from
Smithvillo yesterday on matters in refer
ence to the Odom failure.
Col. Fred Watson came up from Smith-
ville yesterday to look after business
matters in tbo superior court.
Messrs. G. P. Sillier, L. T. Kastorlin
and John Harrison were some of those

terday.
Mr. A. C. VonGundoll, a well-known
cotton buyer and one of the leading citi
zens of the Artesian City, was up from
Albany yesterday.
Col. Tom Burney, representing that
splendid evening daily, the Atlanta
Journal, was circulating among his many
Americas friends yesterday.
Judge J. B. Scott came over from Cor-
dele yesterday, and reported that thriv
ing town as still forging rapidly ahead
in the onward march of progress.
Both Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Harper arc
confined to their room by illness. Mrs.
Harper has been quite sick with
fever for the past two or three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Bascom Myrick left last
night for Atlantic City, X. J., whero Mr.
Myrick goes to attend the mooting of
the Grand Lodge, ltoyal Arcanum, of the
United States.
Mr. 0. P. Love, soliciting freight
agent of the Central witli headquarters
here, was called to Savannah yesterday
to welcomo the advent Into his home
circle of a son and heir.
Mr. H. C. Odom was hero from Lees
burg yesterday. He was in consultation
with his attorneys during tho time in

Deputy Sheriff William Godwin, of

search of a negro who is licelng from
justice in Albany.
Miss Levcrctto gavo a delightful re
ception to Miss Callaway, of Amcricus,
on last Friday evening. Every ono spent
a pleasant evening, ns they always do at

health, has rented out her hotel here,

residence by Mr. If. R. Jones and
family.
A pleasant party of ladies and children
indulged in a nice picnic on Saturday at
Magnolia Springs.
Miss Lizzie Slappey, of Florida, is
Visiting Mrs. R. B. Evans.
Misses Tassie Overby, of Itichland, and
Laura Jowers, of Preston, paid us a
abort visit Sunday.
Dr. and Mrs. Kendrick, of Dawson,
are making a protracted visit to tbo
