Judge Pilabury is keeping up his
record as one of the finest judges on the
bench. Not in the following case a’one,

his post dispensing justice to the un

August's Heavy Rainfall.
The total rainfall during August was
11.51 Inches, an excess of 3.47 Inches
above the average. Of this amount 8
Inches tell in one week, August 22 to
August 28.
The rainfall for the year is now about
up to the average, and the appearances
are that there will be u dry season for
awhile.
The average rainfall for September Is
5.42 inches, and there Is no reason to
believe that this amount will be ex
ceeded this month. No rain was re
ported yesterday In the Savannah dis
trict and very little throughout the
south. The day w as cooler than usual,
the maximum temperature being only 81
degrees and the minimum 65 degrees.
The mean was 5 degrees below the nor
mal. The day was one of the pleasant
est of the summer.
Fair and slightly warmer is the fore
cast for to-day.

has this to say:
NOTE CAREFULLY:
Something About Tilings to Eit
As this is a thin subject that strikes
most people In a tender spot, we will
give you a few pointers of how aud
where to get them. Located in our city
we have one of the most complete gro
cery stores to be found north or south.
A store that would do credit to any city.
We refer to the well-known establish
ment of Mr. E. D. Ansley, in Barlow
Block, where he has boen for the past
seven years. Mr. Ansley has jnst re
turned from the markets east, where he
has bought the most complete stock he
has ever before offered to the trade. His
stock is large and complete in every
line. He proposes to do a wholesale
and retail trade in his line and supply
housekeepers at wholesale prices when
they buy in quantities. His trade is al
ready the largest of any retail grooery in
this section, and be proposes to Increase
it by selling better goods and more of
them for the money than you have ever
before bought. Think of it He pro
poses to sell at wholesale prices to con
sumers in quantities. Mr. Ansley buys
for cash, and is In a position to sell you
goods very low. Also, he will accom
modate yon In many other ways.
Henceforth everything to eat will be
will he j
cheaper. This
