riiere was no very great amount of
uftineis done at the court house yester
day, but still “the mills of the gods”
were grinding.
It was the ltist day of.the September
Term of the county court and although
it wasn’t a busy day, still there was
enough done to nuke the occasion a
memorable one to some people who ap
peared before Judge Billsbury’s tribu
nal.
General Jackson—* ho, on account of
Ids color, could not possibly have been
any, relation of the General Jackson
commonly called “Hickory”—was charg
ed with carrying concealed weapons and
his warlike spirit disappeared entirely,
when Judgo Pillsluiry sentenced hi in to
pay £.>0 or “go up” for six months.
Jaeksoi} paid up and went on his way
rejoicing.
Alex McBride is a cotton picker, but
he is makiug too much money and
couldn’t stand prosperity, so he went
home .and beat up his wife—in a moment
of frantic joy.
He paid $20 for the pleasure and will
probably take that “out of her hide,”
without being caught at it.
Judgo Pillsbury also disposed of a
small number of civil cases before
adjourning court until next month.
This term of the county court has
been quite a busy one and Judge Pills-
bury has disposed of thirty criminal
cases, besides a large number of civil
suits.
In the Ordinary's Court.
If the day was a quiet one in the
county court room, it was a great deal
more so in Judge Speer’s department.
Only one matter of any importance
was attended to and that was the grant
ing of an order to Mr. W# E. Murphy, as
administrator of the estate of A. II.
Coulter, to sell the property belonging
to that estate.

To-nlgbt at 8 o’clock, the young
people of Amadeus who are music-
lovers, will meet at the residence of Mr.
M. Callaway for the purpose of organiz
ing a music club.
A large number of namesof prominent
society people has been enrolled and, as
the music talent of Americas is known
to be above the average, some fine enter
tainments may be looked for during the
coming season. The lift is too long to
be given in this morning’sTimeb-Recok-
der, but hereafter it will probably bo
published in full.
There is a deal of discussion under
way as to naming the club, some favor
ing “The Choral Society” while others
like ‘ The Haydn, The Mozart, The
Handel aud The Mcndellsohn.
However, the meeting to-night is ex
pected to be largely attended and theu
the club will be christened.

You know the old adage “Goods
well bought are half sold.” When
we buy staples—we look for the
best qualities obtainable—when we
buy specialties, we look not alono
for quality, but for the effects that
the finest fancies and the latest
fads demand. Jn addition to this
we always look for the lowest price
that factories will give, and the
best of it is, we don’t stop looking
until wo get there on all three
points—quality, style and price.
Its not much gossip to tell, you
that when this new stock began to
come iq, it did not find our shelves
empty. Here, there and every
where you could find a few odd
sets of glosses and an odd lot of
dishes—a stray lamp or two—the
last “trade orphans” left of a once
bright lamp family, and we tell you
framdy, we don’t, like odd lots, we
would just as leave mix a few drops
of tho best black ink in a tub of
artesian water, as to mix these odd
lots, desirable as they are, with the
new lines we are marking up. Its
a question of convenience with uq
as-much as price—you ought to
see these goods.
