HE WAS A MISER.
i. dead shot
S „ht at the Mat of difficulty. Is aecom-
ljhrd by the sure and atenily aim of
r. Sage's Catarrh Remedy. Don’t
fool around with a pop-gun, nor •
“Flint-lock," whon this reliable “Win
chester " Is within reach!
Dr. Sage's treatment of Catarrh in the
Head is far superior to the ordinary, and
when directions are reasonably well
followed, results In a permanent cure.
Don’t longer be indifferent to the veri
fied claims of this unfailing Remedy.
The worst forms of Catarrh disap
pear with the um of Dr, Sage’s Catarrh
Remedy. Its mild, soothing, cleansing
and healing properties effect a perfect
and permanent cure, no matter bow bad
the caa«L or of how long standing. It's
a remedy that succeeds where every
thing eke has failed. Thousands of
such cases can be pointed out. That’s
the reason its makers back their faith in
It with money. They offer $600 reward
for a case of Catarrh which they can
not cure.
It'S a medicine that allows them to
take such a risk.
Doesn’t common sense lead you to
take Such a medicine ?
“An advertising fake" you say.
Funny, Isn't it, now some people pre
fer sickness to health when the remedy
is positive and the guarantee abtolute.
Vise men don't pnt money back of
“faking" '
“fakes." And
ng” doesn’t pay.
This is the way
with the Ball corset: if you
-want ease and shapeliness,
-you buy it—but you don’t
Iceep it unless you like it.
After two or three weeks’
wear, you can return it and
have your money.
Comfort isn’t all of it
though. Soft Eyelets, and
"bones” that can’t break or
kink—Ball’s corsets have
both of these.

Wooster, Oct. 22.-Jacob Hoover,
aged about "8 years, and an eccentric
character iu the employ of the Wooster
gas company, waa found dead on a pile
of coke. He had "been for yeara of a
miserly disposition, and it is known
that be hud considerable money, but
after liis death a search of bis effects
revealed nothing, either in the shape of
money or papers that would show that
,ie had a peuny.
His wife states that a tew years ago
they bad $11,000, which was kept in a
bureau. One night Mr. Hoover got out
of bed aud taking the money rode away
on horseliack. He was gone three days
but refused to tell where lie had been,
only to say that he had put the money
into good hands and that when he was
dead alie would have plenty to live on.
Only a few weeks ago, while talking
to a nephew, lie suid that lie was going
to quit working so hard; that he hail
S lenty to keep him the balance of bis
ays: that when he was gone there
would be something left for nil of them.
He said that the money was in the
hands of a man who lived near Auburn,
Ind„ who was strictly honest, and who
would account for every dollar, hut re
fused to give hia name or state where
he kept the papers showing who the
man was. An effort is being made to
locate party at Anbnrn. Uiiless the
niftney is found, Hoover's widow will
be penniless.

Rio Grande City, Tex. Oct. 22.—The
Mexican couaul here, Mr. Joel Gonzales,
reqnires all citizens to get a pass for the
other aide, granting them only to those
he deems truly loyal. Without one the
passer will find himself in deadly peril
iu Mexico. Three Mexicans were shot
at the Guardado deFiribn ranch, on the
river, nine miles below here, on the Mex
ican side. Two had just crossed from
Texas, having been working in the vi
cinity of Victoria. The other, Juan
Baseuu, was from Mier, an army meat
contractor, it Is said. The first two,
unconscious of the necessity for them,
crossed without cousula permit, and
were at once arrested at their homes on
the hank by a cavalry picket.
General Lorenzo Garcia, on his way
from Pamargo to Mier with an escort
the night they were shot, when notified
of their attest, prdered their Nummary
execution, which took place in the pres
ence of their pleading families. The
shots which ushered them into eternity
and the cries of the wives ami children
for mercy were plainly heard on the
Texas side. A number of families at
that point, terror stricken, fieri to this
side, where they are camping in the
open air.
