New York. Oct SB.-Walter Foster,
a 20-yi‘nr-old handsome clerk employed
by Messrs. Sons & Flemlnif. the Green
Point oil refiners, was arrested, re
cently, charged with having betrayed
Carrie Bowers, the 18-year-old daughter
of one of the workingmen. The girl
lost her case, and as her lover was
leaving the court room, she said: "You
have your day, mine is to come. * As
Foster was passing 155 Colver street,
the girl emerged from the doorway,
firing twice at him. As he ran then;
was a third report. Foster ran until he
met a policeman, and to him began to
telihis story. While still speaking a
deadly faintness came over him, and he
knew for the first time that he had
been shot. At the hospital, where he
was examined, it was found that he
had been shot twice, once iu the right
shoulder, and the second time fairly in
the right breast. The latter wound did
not admit of probing and all to be done
is to leave him to die. The girl, when
last seen, was walking rapidly down
Green Point avenue toward the river.
Police Captaiu Rhodes said: "We shall
find her, but she will be dead, and her
body be floating in the river."
