THE AMEB10US DAILY TXMES-KEOORDER: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER I I, 1891.
Jack and Joe.
I bare to get an overcoat
Says Jack'to bis friend Joe,
And, with bat little cash to spare,
Where had I better go?
This buying clothes just bothers me,
The smartest man can't tell
From looking at a coat, just if
The goods will wear real well.
And lots of these here clothing men
Are that keen on a trade,
They’ll lie like sixty anyhow
About how clothes are made.
And some they stick the dollars on
And then you have to Jew
’Till they take off what they put on,
Whisperin: “Just for you."
Now I don’t like that kind of way
And blame mo if I know
With just the little cash I’ve got
■ Where it Is best to go.
Says Joe to Jack, I know your fix,
For I’ve been that way, too;
But you'll gfet over that right quick
If you trade where I do.
Try John R. Shaw, and you can tie
To every word he says,
And lay your money out, dead sure
That your investment pays.
His prices are ’way down below
The prices ohters ask;
The folks that try to sell with him
I tell you have a task.
Low prices—quality the best— C7i~iB
Large stock—and goods all now—;
I’ts plain that John R. Shaw's the man
To sell to me and you!

Chokee Destroyed by Fire.
Veaterday morning about 3 o’clock two
store houses with contents and the tele
graph office at Chokee, 6a., were burn
ed. The loss will probably reach $9,000,
with an insurance of about $4,000. The
property was owned by Ur. A. H. Sim
mons, who was absent from home at the
time, and the fire is supposed to be of
Incendiary origin. Full details could
not be obtained.
A great excitement was caused recent

Tax Times-Recordeb has received
from the temporary executive committee
appointed by the World’s Fair conven
tion held in Uacon, Ootober 27th, an in
vitation to be present at a meeting of
this committee in conjunction with the
representatives of the state press, de
signed to formulate some plan of action
through which Georgia's resources may
be fitly displayed at the Columbian Ex
position at Chicago in '03.
The Times-Recordeb is in hearty
sympathy with the object of this meet
ing and will cheerfully devote any space
necessary towards accomplishing the de
sired result
The move on the part of the committee
in calling together the Georgia press is
likely to prove of great benefit to the
cause, and It la probable that there are
few papers within the borders of the
commonwealth which will not cheerfully
lend their Influence and co-operation to
the raising of the necessary amount
The editors are invited to be the guests
of Uacon during the convention and
those who bare partaken of the whole-
souled hospitality of the Central City
are looking forward to the convention
with unmlxed pleasure.
