Earnest Letters from Women Re
lieved of Pain by Mrs. Pinkham.
“Dear Mrs. Pinkham:—Before I
commenced to take your medicine
was in a terrible state, wishing- myself
dead a good many times. Every part
of my body seemed to pain in soma
way. At time of menstruation my
suffering was something terrible. I
thought there was no cure for me, but
after taking several bottles of Lydia
E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound all
my bad feelings were gone. I am now
well and enjoying good health. I shall
always praise your medicine.”—Mrs.
Amos Fesciiler, Box 220, Romeo, Mich.
Female Troubles Overcome '
“ Dear Mrs. Pinkham :—I had female
trouble, ps .infill menses, and kidney
complaint, also stomach trouble. About
a year ago I happened to pick up a
paper that contained an advertisement
of Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Com-
pouiid, and when 1 read how it had
helped others, 1 thought it might help
■, and decided to give it a trial. 1
did so, and as a result am now feeling
perfectly well. 1 wish to thank you for
the benefit j’our medicine Las’ been to
me.”—Mbs. Clara Stiebeb, DUler, Neb.
No More Pain
“ Dear Mrs. Pinkham Your Vege
table Compound has been of much
benefit to me. When my menses first
appeared they were very irregular.
They occurred too often and did not
leave for a week or more. 1 always
suffered at these times with terrible
pains in my back and abdomen. Would
be in bed for several days and would
not be exactly rational at times. I
took Lydia E. Pink horn’s Vegetable
Compound, and menses became regular
and pains left me entirely.”—Mrs. E.

The condition of the waterworks
pumping station would seem to indi

will be necessary to make it entirely
satisfactory and complete.
Just now Engineer George Nix is
butily engaged overhauling the ma

He says there was much to be done and
the end of the task is not In sight.
Pamps, boilers, compressors tnd other
machinery needs repairing.
And the whole bill of costs may be
from $2,000 to $3,000.
A boiler inspector is upon the scene
inspectihg the three large and costly
boilers. The one purchased two years
ago, at a cost of $2,500, is said to re
quire rebuilding or extensive repairs,
Engineer Nix will finish today the
repairs npon one of the large Dean
pumps, which has not been operated,
he says, in several months. When this
is done the one remaining pnmp, now
being operated to keep np the water
supply, will be fixed up mb well.

Though the Find Is Only Recent Many
Have Taken Out $25,000—Three
Men Working With Wooden Rock
ers Get $1,000 a Day.
Nome, Alaska, June 8, via Seattle,
Wash., June 27.—More definite returns
received concerning the rich strike at
Topnkink, 55 miles below Nome, seems
to leavo no reason to doubt that this is
one of the greatest strikes ever made in
this vicinity, as important as the strike
at Nome before.
Though the discovery o." Topukiuk is
of comparatively recent date, many
have struck it rich already, and several
individual fortunes, running as high as
$25,000, havo been taken out. Parties
of two or threo working with wooden
rockers, it is said, are taking out $1,000
a day. It is really estimated that one
stretch of beach GOO feet long, by an
average of 90 feet in width, has yielded
$475,000 within the past few weeks.
Another strike, though not of a sensa
tional nature, has been reported at a
point on tho beach 20 miles south of
Nome.
After four months of fearful suffering,
during which he helplessly watched tho
death of one after auother of his com
panions. James Murphy of New York, a
castaway sailor, was rescued from strav-

islands.
Murphy is the solo survivor of a party
of six which sailed from Nome Nov. 3,
1899, on board the schooner Eacrett of
San Francisco. The little vessel was
destined for Cape Nome, but was driven
ashore on St. Lawronco island.
