You can buy a straw hat for a quarter, a suit of

But you get what you pay for. You can buy a

get what you pay for. Strictly speaking there
are no real “bargains.” The cheap man gets
what he is looking for-cheapness. And the man

SUNDAY BALL GAMES
WILL NOT BE STOPPED
Protest Made Against Ma
rines’ Recreation.
PHILADELPHIA, PA., October 24.
(Special)—ln answer to protests on
the part of Presbyterian and Method
ist clergymen against outdoor games
at League Island on Sunday, officers
of the yard declare these games to
be an invaluable moral influence in
the lives of the thousands of men
who are stationed there at different
times every year.
As a result of this belief, shared
by every man in authority at the
yard, Sunday baseball and Sunday
football, now that the baseball sea
son is ended, will continue.
‘Far from stopping it,” declared
Rear Admiral Pendelton, command
ant of the yard, “I shall use my in
fluence to have as many of the men
as possible be either participants or
onlookers at the Sunday afternoon
sports.”
Only a formal order from the Secre
tary of the Navy will change this
decision. In view of the fact that
officials at Washington, especially the
President, are known to be keenly
interest in developing the athletic
sports, and that the custom of play
ing outdoor games by enlisted men
of army and navy is as old as the
service, it is not believed at League
Island the President or Secretary
Metcalf will heed the protests.
No Violence to Day
Rear Admiral Pendleton talked free
ly of the Sunday issue yesterday.
“I appreciate the sancity of the
Sabbath,” he declared, “and would
be loth to believe that such sancity
were being violated where I could
prevent it. As far as the playing of
baseball in this reservation on Sun
day afternoon is concerned I could
not be convinced in a thousand years
that any violence was being done to
the day.
“Under rules prevailing in the ser
vice from time immemorial Sunday
has been a day of rest and recreation
for officers and men. The lives of
our enlisted men, afloat and ashore,
are filled with rigid routine for six
days. While their ships are at the
ward there is less of routine, / per
haps, but extra work is to be done,
and every man on every ship earns
the breathing spell that comes with
Sunday.
NATURE’S WARNING.
Americus People Must Recognize aiul
Heed It.
Kidney ills come quietly—myster
iously,
But nature always warns you
through the urine.
Notice the kidney secretions.
See if the color is unhealthy—
If there are settlings and sediment,
Passages too frequent, scanty, pain
ful.
It’s time then to use Doan’s Kid
ney Pills,
To ward off Bright’s disease or
diabetes.
J. H. Thompson, employed by the
cotton compress company and living
at 213 Pine street, Albany, Ga., says:
Doan’s Kidney Pills rid me of a lame
and aching back, and I am therefore
prepared to recommend them very
highly. I had suffered from this com
plaint for some years past. It was a
dull pain right across the small of
my back particularly severe at night,
breaking my rest and robbing me of
sleep. The kidney secretions con
tained a sediment and were very free
and strong-smelling. I used various
kidney remedies but nothing seemed
to do me any good until I got Doan’s
Kidney Pills and used them. They
gave me almost immediate relief, and
since using them my back has been
free from pain, my urine contains no
sediment and does not bother me as it
did.”

Do Die Right Thing
if you have Nasal Catarrh. Get Ely’s
Cream Balm at once. Don't touch
the catarrh powders and snuffs, for
they contain cocaine. Ely’s Cream
Balm releases the secretions that
inflame the nasal passages and the
throat, whereas, medicines made with
mercury merely dry up the secretions
and leave you no better than you were.
In a word, Ely’s Cream Balm is a real
remedy, not a delusion. All drug
gists, 50 cents, or mailed by Ely

FARMER USES AN
AUTOMOBILE PLOW
Crop Hauled to Market by
Same Power.
MEADE, KAN., Oct. 24.—{Special)
With an automobile to run his plows,
a farmer living near this place has
taken a great step in the solution of
a great problem.
The new autotractor has many
points of great merit. In reality it
is a combination of the traction en
gine and gasoline motor. But it is
much lighter than the old engine.
The car now in use weighs only for
ty-one hundred pounds and is of
thirty horse power. It may be run
with gasolene, alcohol or kerosene.
It has two speeds, the low one for
use in the field and the higher one for
the road. It moves across Meade
county sod, the toughest to be found,
pulling gang ploughs that turn six
furrows at a time, and it is done so
easily that effort is not noticeable.
When the time comes to haul the
wheat crop to market a train of wag
ons is hitched behind the autotractor
and hauled down the road at the rate
of six miles an hour. When doing
none of the movable class of work
the machine may be staked down and
be made to run any machine on the
farm. Its lists has been made to in
clude everything from the churn to
the steam pump. And right here is
where the housewife is helped in
much of her drudgery by the applica
tion of the new invention.
. . LEARN TO EAT
Few People in Americas Really
Know How.
Slow eating willl solve one-half the
problem of ill health. Those who suf
fer already with indigestion and weak
stomach can with care and ihe use of
Mi-o-na stomach tablets restore their
digestion to a healthy condition, so
that they can eat what they want at
any time without fear of distress or
suffering.
After a few days’ use of Mi-o-na
stomach tablets, the headache, dizzy
feeling, drowsiness, sleeplessness, dis
tress after eating—all these symp
toms of a weak stomach—will dis
appear, and perfect digestion and a
good skin will show that the vital
machinery is once more running
smoothly.
Take a little Mi-o-na tablet before
each meal so that it will stimulate
the digestive juices and give strength
to the stomach, and then it will take
care of the food that is eaten , with
out indigestion and the unpleasant
full feeling with which so many suf
fer after meals.
Dodson’s Drug Store have so much
confidence in the power of Mi-o-na to
cure indigestion and all stomach ills
that they give a guarantee with every
50-cent box to refund the money if the
remedy fails to give satisfaction.

BRYAN ADVISES
BOYS ON MONEY
NEW YORK, October 24.—(Spec
ial) —Urging the necessity for a high
purpose in life to the pupils of the
DeWitt Clinton School, William Jen
nings Bryan criticised those who re
gard money as above everything else
and declared that there were more
sacred obligations to be fulfilled than
those measured by riches. He said,
in part:
“If I were not in a money center,
where many of the people regard
money as greater than anything else,
I would say that there are some ob
ligations more sacred than those that
are measured by money. The obliga
tion of the child to the parent, for
instance. The obligation to those who
have furnished you with free school
ing. The obligation to those who
gave us a free government, in which
we can participate; and higher than
all else, is our obligation to our Hea
venly Father for all His blessings.”
