I have always argued that my
wife possessed rare powers of man

powers so wonderfully demonstrat

else was gathering corn, so I de
cided to gather ray crop. After
lireuking it down, I thought of
where I should house it. Discuss

said: ‘'I'll tell you: there's a big
basket here, and one a size less.
Put your corn in the least one and
you can use the big one for n shuck

then that the cold iion-y entered

The regular schedule on the
ports the cotton crop in those
parts of the country far too short

predicts sulicrii.g ill consequence.
It is now generally agiccd

unusual economy is observed, the
corn yield will not turnisli bread

made.

Among the visitors to Governor

were as sure for Cleveland as Flor

the result. He further said that
there was n large independent
white republican element in Flori

the north, that would heartily
support Governor Cleveland. In
explanation ot the withdrawal of
Elector Long from the electoral
ticket, Mr. Jones said that it was
occasioned bv an independent
speech of Mr. Long regarding the
negro question. “He has been
substituted," he said, “by a demo
crat who is very popular with the
native lwrn and northern people,
the white republican element es
pecially. Hu also Ims the confl-
dcnce of the colored population.”
In the course of conversation,
the fraud of 1876 was alluded to,
when Mr. Jones said: “There
need be no alarm that Florida wUI

editor further remarked: “Thia
