grand council oi Georgia, Royal A.c;
num, wldch has been in session her
during the'past two days, {adjourned to
night after a most pleasant and harmo
nious meeting.
The council voted to make Americus
the place of meeting of the next session
in 1802 by an almost unanimous vote,
Macon and Atlanta being also in the
tield.
Tke report of the Grand Secretary,
! Clarence S. Connerat, shows the Arca
num to be in a nourishing condition,
financially and in membership. The re
ceipts during the year were >.7,220.01,
and the disbursements *021.10. There
are fifty-seven councils in the state, and
the total membership foots up :»,1.77.
The membership at the last report,
Dec., :*1, 1880, was 2.000. Up to Dec. 01,
1800, there had been an increase of 40:1
and a decrease of 10, leaving a member
ship of :»,074 at the beginning of 1801.
Pulaski council, which is next to the
largest council in the state, has 194
members. Atlanta council, of Atlanta,
has 2.71 members. < >f the 57 councils in
the state 47 show an increase in mem
bership. Only eight show a falling off,
and that very small.
Eight councils have over 100 members
each, and the smallest council in the
state has fifteen members. 'I'hat is one
of the new councils, three of which were
organized last year, one at Waverly
Ilall, one at ( larksville and one at Chip-
ley.
The grand regent in summarizing his
report says: “The net increase in the
order in this state, for the year ending.
Dec. :J1, 1800, was 414. The year began
with 2,0*52 members—ended with :1,074—
an increase of 10 per cent. Since the
bad weather of winter the increase lias
been much more rapid. March, for in
stance, scored an increase over February
of about GOO per cent."
The banquet at the DeSoto last night
was a successful affair. The large
dining room of the DeSoto, which had
been especially arranged for the occa
sion, was nearly filled, about 200 dele
gates to the Grand council of Georgia
and members of the Pulaski council, of
Savannah, being present. Grand Secre
tary C. S. Connerat was master of cere
monies, assisted by Past Grand Regent
A. C. Hannon and W. W. Starr.
