THE AMERIOUS WEEKLY TJLMES-RECOh DER: FRIDAY. SEPTEMBER 20, 1891.
ilG HUE IX CHICAGO.
GONE TO GLORY.
AN ENTIRE FAMILY WAS SMOTHERED
TO DEATH.
llang-
Something is lost
when yon use Dr. Sage’s Catarrh
Remedy. It’s Catarrh. The worst
cases yield to its mild, soothing,
cleansing, and healing properties.
No matter how bad your case, or of
how long standing, you can bo cured.
Incurable cases are rare. It’s worth
$500 to you, if you have one. Tho
manufacturers of Dr. Sage’s Remedy
aro looking for them. They’ll pay
you that amount in cash, if they
can’t cure you. It’s a plain square
offer from a responsible business
house, and they mean it. It seems
too one-sided, too much of a risk.
It would be—with any other medi
cine behind it. It only goes to prove
what’s beer said : incurable cases
aro rare—with Dr. Sage’s Catarrh
Remedy.
Other so-calicd remedies may pal
liate for a time; this mires for all
time. By its mild, soothing, cleans
ing and healing properties, it con
quers tho worst cases. It removes
offensive breath, loss or impairment
of tho sense of taste, 6mell or hear
ing, watering or weak eyes, when
caused by tho violence of Catarrh,
as they all frequently are.
Remedy 6old by druggists, only
SO cents.
This is the way
with the Ball corset: if you
want ease and shapeliness,
you buy it—but you don’t
keep it unless you like it.
After two or three weeks’
wear, you can return it and
have your money.
Comfort isn’t all of It
though. Soft Eyelets, and
"bones” that can’t break or
kink—Ball’s corsets have
both of these.

come With the Confined Smoke. 1
Chicago, Sept. 19.—A fire occurred
here in a three-story brick building, at
549 and 551 Sedgewiek street, in the
upper stories, which were occupied by a
number of families as living apartments,
resulted in the death of seven person 3
and the fatal injury of another.
The dead are:
John Sehalk, mechanic, aged 4;.
Mrs. Sehalk. aged 42.
Annie, John and Janies Sehalk, aged
15. 12 and 8 years.
Robbie Burns, aged 14.
An nnk own woman.
Cynthiaua i chalk, the only surviving
member of the family, aged 17, was
overcome with the einoke and it is
thought cannot recover.
'll'.- tire originated in the rear of the
first floor, which was occupied by Wm.
Keafits as a bakery, and i» thought to
have caught from one of the* bake ovens.
It spread to the shed in the rear in
which was a quantity of hay and straw.
From this if run up the rear staircase
and into the sleeping rooms on the sec
ond and third floors.
The front rooms on the second floor
were occupied by John Dondo, his wife
and two children, all of whom escaped
without injury. The rear was occupied
by Mr. Keafits, owner of the bakery,
and two bakers The .Regenstein, Ro-
senfeld, Sehalk and Burns families oc
cupied the rear third floor. Burns and
wife and their three children were res
cued by firemen.
Keafits and his family escaped from
the second floor by means of a ladder.
When the rooms of the Sehalk family
were reached, it was found that all
were unconscious.
Mrs. Sehalk and Cynthiana gave evi
dence of life, but the mother died be
fore the patrol wagon arrived.
The family was smothered, and not
burned to death. The financial loss is
insignificant.
A New Race Discovered.
Halifax, N. S., Sept. 19.—Professor
Lee, chief of the Bowdoiu college expe
dition to Labrador, which has arrived
here on the way home, expressed him
self as being more than satisfied with
the results of his expedition. He had
satisfactorily solved the question of the
existence and grandeur of the Grand
Falls of Labrador, a subject which had
heretofore been a legend to the scien
tific, and a race of Moutagnies Indians
have been found. This is the first dis
covery of that race known to the white
man. Their characteristics were noted
and a record kept thereof. Measure
ments were taken, and these will be
shown on charts at the World’s fair in
Chicago.
WHISKEY
is often used as medicine, iu which case
tho purity of the article is of the great
est Importance. I. W. Harper Is a Ken
tucky distiller of national reputation.
The product of his distillery is shipped
direct to tho retail trade; it passes
through no middleman’s hands to be
mixed, colored and watered. Consum
era therefore have tho assurance that I.
W. Harper’s whiskey is sold in its abso
lute purity by his agents.
Savannah’* Tripple Murderer IV
ed Yesterday Morning.
Savannah, September IS—Albeit
Morea, alias Albert Kitchen, expiated
his crime on the gallows this morning at
10:40 o’clock.
The man was evident!} perfectly
sincere in stating that he expected to go
straight to Heaven, for at no time during
the morning did he display the least fear
of death.
To one of the jail officials he remark
ed, “I am glad I am to die. Hanging
will save me the trouble of taking my
own life.”
There were about two hundred people,
a large number of whom were negroes,
that gathered around the jail. Both
sides of the sidewalk in front of the jail
entrance were crowded.
The people who witnessed the execu
tion were unanimous in declaring that
they had never seen a person display as
much nerve and game as Morea did.
