THE aMERICUS WEEKLY TIMES-RECORDER: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 1891.
ttnjnoirr ibso
After dinner,
if yon havo discomfort and suffer
ing, take Dr. Pierce’s Pleasant
Pellets, or Anti-Bilious Granules.
They’re made to assist Nature in
her own way — qnietly, but thor
oughly. What the old-fashioned
pill did forcibly, these do mildly
and gently. They do more, too.
Their effects are lasting j they
regulate tho system, as well as
cleanse and renovato it. One little
Pellet’s a gentle laxative; threo to
four act as a cathartic. They’re
the smallest, cheapest, tho easiest
to take. Unequaled as a Liver
Pill. Sick Headache, Bilious Head
ache, Constipation, Indigestion, Bil
lons Attacks, and all derangements
of the stomach and bowels, aro
promptly relieved and permanently
cured.
They’re the cheapest pill you can
buy, because they’re guaranteed to
give satisfaction, or your money is
returned.
You only pay for the good you
get.
Can you ask more ?
KILLED BY A WISE.
This is the way
with the Ball corset: if you
want ease and shapeliness,
you buy it—but you don’t
keep it unless you like it.
After two or three weeks’
wear, you can return it and
have your money.
Comfort isn’t all of it
though. Soft Eyelets, and
“bones” that can’t break or
kink—Ball’s corsets have
both of these.

Several Home* Lie Dead In a Heap In
Brooklyn.
New York, October 10.—The trolley
wire of the Brooklyd and Jamaica elec
tric railway broke down last night at
Fulton street and Broadway, Brooklyn,
and one end was allowed to lie across
the pavement until it had killed three
hoises.
Fortbnately, no citizen came in con
tact with the wire, which was highly
charged with electricity. Wtlliam Gra
ham, a Woodhaven farmer, was the
first to discover the electric wire dang
ling in the road, but he did not make
the discovery until after his two valua
ble horses were lying dead In the middle
of the street.
Graham was returning from Brooklyn
market about midnight with * $.">50 team
of horses attached to hi* truck. When
at the corner of Fulton Mreet and Broad
way his horses reared and It 11 to the
ground. lie Immediately jumped from
his wagon to assist the horses to rise,
but to his surprise they wen* both dead.
At the same time the hoise attached to
a passing surface car fell dead. Theu
some one shouted: ‘’Look out for the
trolley wire or you will he killed.”
Robert Gamble, conductor on the car,
jumped off and began poking, the pros
trate horse to makeitiise, when sud
denly his foot touched the wire, and he,
too, fell to the ground.
Fortunately he received comparatively
a slight shock. IIo was able to get up
in a few minutes.
A crowd gathered, and for a while
tlieie was great confusion in the neigh
borhood. All of the time horses were
lying in a heap in the road, the wire was
sizzing and emitting sparks at a lively
rate underneath the dead bodies of ti e
animals.
The spectators were apparently greatly
frightened, for no one made a move to
get the wire out of the way. At length
several men procured loog poles and
dragged the wire out from under the
dead horses to one side of the street,
Another man telephoned to the office of
the company about the broken wire and
the current was immediately shut off.
There was only one passenger in the
car at the time and he was not injured.
Farmer Graham says, he will sue the
city for the loss of his horses.
OPINION OF U. 8. MINISTER SCRUGGS.
Mr. A. K. Hawkes—Dear Sir: Per
mit mo to join in the expressions of
admiration for your wonderful eye
glasses, that you have received from the
highest authorities. Where the finest
material is combined with such perfect
construction, tho combination is bound
to produce a softness and clearness of
vision unequaled by any other glasses.
All strain is removed from the eyes of
the wearer, which improve till their
strength of sight becomes perfect. Very
truly yours,
William L Scruggs,
United States Minister to Venezuela,

JUDGE MADDOX HURT.
He Refers to Sam Jones’ Accusation-
Newsy.
Rome, Ga., October 10.—Judge Mad
dox discharged the grand jury this
morning and as customary in their pre
sentments they commended his honor
very highly. In Judge Maddox’s part
ing words to the jury he said:
Gentlemen: Your recommendation
does me no good. For the first time
during the five years I have been on the
bench I have been accused of imposing
too light a fine, and that charge has
been heralded in the press throughout
the state of Georgia.
The fines which Judge Maddox alluded
to were those of several of Rome’s prom
inent young men who were found guilty
of playing caids. The question as to
whether they played for money or not,
o meicly for fun and r» creation,putting
up the money to stimulate the game and
then lemming it, was a point that was
not detinitel.v decided, the efore Judge
Maddox couH not see under those eii-
cumstances how he could w» 11 make
fines heavier.
