Dawson is certainly one of the m ost
musical towns In the state. Representa
tives of musical instrument bouses have
worked it for all It is worth, and have
placed an organ or piano in nearly every
house.
Of late there has been quite a rivalry
among our best citizens as to who should
have the finest instrument in the city,
and the manufacturers have been put to
their trumps to get up something fine
enough to fill the orders. At last Dr
W. C. Paschal has capped the climax, as
It were, and takes the blue ribbon.
lie has just received from Sohmer &
Co., New York, through their southern
agents, Messrs. James Flicker & Bro., of
Americus, the finest and most elegant
piano ever seen In this section. Prof. D.
Lockhart, manager of the musical de
partment of Fricker IJros., ordered the
piano and aided in getting up this spe
cial style for this special occasion. It is
A octave, cabinet grand, over strung
scale, three stringed repeating action,
very handsomely carved, special rich
design of case in white ash, with Hun
garian ash trimmings. It produces the
greatest volume of sound and the softest
and sweetest tones of any instrument in
this whole section, and is so beautiful
that the ear and eye are at once charmed
and enchanted.
Dr. Paschal paid $1,000 for this piano,
and considers it one of the best bargains
of his life. To sit in Ills elegant parlor
and hear his charming daughter, Mi
Lora—for whom he purchased the in
strument—play some ol her choice se
lections of music, makes a man feel like
he is nearer Heaven than he ever was
before.—Dawson News.

Sciiooi,, ^November U2, 18111.—Death,
even when it strikes down tlie aged,
who liave lived out their allotted years,
has its terrors. Hut how much more so
when it Invmtcs the household to take
therefrom the young, whoso mystic ties
of being arc bound in the bundle of life,
unfolding from youth to manhood. In
the death of Walter Crisp we sympathize
with his parents in their sad berea.'-
meut and loss. He is taken from the
evil to come and has gone before to join
his sister who is on the other side. It
is a pleasing thought and not unwar
ranted by the Scriptures, to believe that
his sister, as a ministering spirit,
watched for his coming from tlie battle
monts of heaven, and with her cadonces,
or wings of tlie morning, sho escorted
his freed spirit to the mansions in the
skies.

Mr. William T. Price, a Justice of the
Peace, at Richland, Nebraska, was con
fined to his bed last winter with a se

application of Chamberlain's Pain Balm
enabled him to get up and go to work.

bo recommonded too highly.” Let any

An IquJne Epidemic.
There is a queer disease affiicting the
horses in Americus that promises to
spread very generally unless it is ar
rested. It attacks the internal organs of
the animals and results fatally in a gen
erality of cases. Mr. Thornton Wheat-
ley lost a handsome carnage horse from
this disease, and there are several other
cases that resulted fatally reported.
Veterinary surgeons should be em
ployed to investigate this malady and
prescribe a cure.
