A MOVEMENT AFOOT TO ESTABLISH
A BRANCH
Of the Society.for the Prevention of Cru
elty to Animal* in Americus—Instance*
Where Dumb Animals Are Subjected to
the Most Krutal Treatment.
There is a deep-seated movement
afoot in'Americus that cannot be other
than fruitful of golden results. This
movement finds its source in the most
humane sentiment, in a desire to afford
protection to domestic animals when
they are subjected to mistreatment.
Incidents aro numberless where horses
and mules have been cruelly and even
brutally treated in Americus.
Onlyjon {Friday a hacknran was seen
by a gentleman to strike his horse re
peated and severe blows over the face
and head with the butt end of a buggy
whip.
Such indefensible cruelty should lie
punished severely and the perpetrator
made an example of.
A horse was seen standing on Friday
from nine o’clock until six exposed to
tho asperities of the bitter cold day,
without shelter or the semblance of pro
tection against the driving rain.
Tho animal was an animated skeleton,
to say the.least, and it was worse than
cruelty to expose him to the most propi
tious conditions of tho weather.
There is nothing so reprehensible as
this subjection of defenceless animals to
cruel treatment.
The movement to establish this branch
of the S. 1’. C. A. should bo accorded
tho warmest and most enthusiastic sup
port. Mr. .Waller Furlow voluntarily
offered to contribute $25 to its mainte
nance, and there is no doubt but that
others will go as deeply down into their
pockets.
It is a commendable move, and meritB
the strongest exertions to bring it to a
successful termination. Who will be
the pioneer?
A GREAT GERMAN PAPER’S EDITOR
Says editorially: “I received from A.
K. Hawkes, of Austin, a pair of his
Crystalized Lens spectacles, and I must
say I was surprised to find them so
transparent and fine. I consider these
spectacles the best in existence, and can
highly recommend them to all those
who arc obliged to use glasses. I be
lieve that these lenses really preservo
the eyes, and not like so many inferior
and badly ground glasses do, injure the
sight, O. Diktzki.,

the greatest blood purifier in the world,
as hosts of people in this city, where it
is manufactured can testify.
KEEP YOUR BLOOD PURE.
One of the most frequent and insidious
causes of bad health is impure blood.
This disorder of the system does not
always manifest itself outwardly by
sores, eruptions, etc., quite often the
sorede8s is altogether internal. The kid
neys feel sore, the liver feels sore, the
lungs feel sore, and a decay sets it that
too often ends fatally. It is much more
serious for blood poison to manifest it
self internally than externally. In such
cases neglect means death, for the vital
organs once contaminated grow worse
unless they grow better, and they will
never grow better unless the proper rem
edy is applied. There is no remedy that
equals
I>r. John Hull's Sarsaparilla,
as a curative agent in cases of blood poi
son. When other remedies miserably
fail to give relief, this remedy always
checks its terrible ravages, even in in
stances of scroftda or syphillis, and re
stores the blood to a state of absolute
purity. Large bottle (102 teaspoonfuls)
$1.00.
A physician of Waco, Texas,
writes: “I know a number of instances
of severe cases of blood poison being
cured by Dr. John Bull’s Sarsaparilla,
no other remedy or trea'ment being
made use of, <1 consider that no better
blood medicine is manufactured.
