The people were tol l the first time|

record was directly opposed to those
things for which he now stood. In a

Terrell's arraignment was quick,
thorough and severe when he once
went at it.
John Temple Graves sized this mqn

in addition to being a strong and able
man was also remarkably amiable, and
pure as gold.—Valdosta Times.

The Democratic newspapers all over
the couutiyare making it plain that
tkey do not intend that their patty
shall be held responsible for the wild
outbreaks of Tillman of South Caro

The Atlauia Journal think the next
time the Georgia legislature appropri
ates all the money in band and in sight
it should at least be considerate
enough to extend the Governor's bor
rowing limit beyond (2A>,000.
Arizona was made a territory in lS<i4—
nearly forty years ago. Oklahoma is a
young territory, though it exceeds the
other is population.
The admission of these three terri
tories means six new Senators and the
addition of at least ten votes to the
Electoral College.
JOHNSTON GAINING.
Dr. Mark Johnston, candidate for
State School Commissioner, is gaining
strength rapidly, the Blakely Reporter
thinks. His platform has in it three
important planks. First, uniformity
of school books in the schools of the
state; second, adoption ot school books
by Southern authors a. far as practica
ble, especially in the matter of histories
taught to tne children in the state;
third, prorating the school funds to
whites and colored, acoirdmg to the
