<ov. Terrell will send ont notices in
* tew day* to the members of hie staff
announcing hie acceptance of Gen.
Evans' invitelien to attend the Con
federate reunion in New Orleans in
May. The Governor will urge ell
uembers of bis staff to attend. About
sixty have so far provided tbemeolveB
with gorgeoneaod beautiful uniforms.
It will be necessary for the etaff^offl-

poisiblf. Both Colonel Lawson Sta
pleton and Colonel Crawford Wheat-

provided themselves with handsome
uniforms, and will doubtless attend

On Wednesday, April 22nd, jnst
three week henee, Monroe Adams will
die npon the gallows here for one of
the most brutsl and heinous crimes
ever eommitted in Sumttr county, the
atrocione shooting to death ct his own
wife and daughter.
The sentence of death was Again
passed npon the condemned negro by
Judge Littlejohn yesterday.
Adams was brought from his cell
sbont noon and in the presence of the
oonrt officers and others present was
again eenteneed to die open the gallows
on tho date named.
When askod by the court 11 he bad
any statement to make, Adams arose
and repeated the same rambling story
of the donble mnrder which he related
at the time oi the trial. The earn and
snbstence of this was that he thought
be was shooting two other parties.
Will Kigbton, Iicury Sapp, Hardy
Bobinson and Nighton’s wife, the
prisoner said, were tke;portles whom
he went forth to kill that night.
By "mistake" Adams sari, he killed
his wife and daughter instead.
In his statement yesterday Adams
declared that because be was a "demo
crat negro" be had been persecuted by
his raoe, and tbii was in part respon
sible for all hie tronblee. He fredy
confeases that ha wont forlh that night
to do premeditated mnrder.
The only difference wee in the names
of hie several victims.
The supreme court passed open
Adamt* esse recently, sustaining the
verdict of the conrt below, and there is
nothing in the way of the condemned
man’s exeontion on the date fixed by
Jndge Littlejohn In tbne again passing
sentgneo npon him yesterday,
The exeontion will be private, taking
place in the high enolosnre in rear of
the connty jail.
How to Ward Off an Attaok of
Rheumatism.
"For years when springtime osme on
and I went Into gardening, I was sure to
bsve an attack of rheumatism and every
attaok was more severs than the preced
ing one,” says Jneie McDonald, of Man,
Logan county, West V*. "I tried every
thing wltn no relief whatever, until I
troonrcd a bottle of Chamberlain’* Pain
; Slim, and the first application gave me
ease, and before the first bottle wsa used
1 felt like a new person. Now I feel
that I am cured, but I always keep a
bottle of Chamberlain’s Pain Btlm in
the boose, and when I feel any symp
toms uf a return I soon drive It away
with one or two applications of this
liniment." For aale by all drngglita.
