QUEEN DRAGA WAS OUTRAGED.
Assassinated In Royal Palace
at Belgrade.
Those Admitted to the Palace to View
the Remains Are Said -To Have
Stamped and Spat Upon Them—Kar-
ageorgevitch's Election Probable.
Vienna, June 12.—The new Servian
premier, Jl. Avukoraovna, is quoted
In a dispatch troni Uoi>,:-dj today as
saying:
''Returned heme yesterday from
Alexinatz, where I was on professional
legal business. 1 was at once sum
moned to the ministry where the other
ministers had assembled. They In-
formed mo that the deed was commit
ted at their request. I accept the
premiership. The cabinet meets to
day, and will consider what steps shall
next be taken. At present, we are
not in communication with Karageore-
vitch, even If the army lias proclaim
ed him king. His election is proba
ble, however, as there Is no other
course open. It will remain for the
Skuptshtina to elect him or not."
Sensational stories, many of which
are undoubtedly sent lor the purpose
®f political effect, are published here,
the most revolting of them being that
the soldiers outraged Qticon Draga and
mutilated the -body of King Alexan
der, and that those who were admit
ted to the palace yesterday to view
the remains, spat and stamped on
them.
A REVOLUTION IS RAMPANT.
NEWS IN CONFIRMED.
Government at Belgrade Abolishes
Alexander's Legislative Assembly.
Paris, Juno 12.—The foreign office
here received a dispatch from the
French agent on tho Servian frontlet
confirming the press announcements
that the now government at Belgrade
had abolished the legislative assembly
created by the late King Alexander
and had renewed the ancient Slrupt-
ehltlna, which has been ordered to
assemble next Monday for the pur
pose of ratifying the proclamation of
Prince Peter Karageorgevltch os king,
The assembly judt abolished was
made ui> of appointees of tho late king
and did not contain a member who
was opposed to Alexander's policy.
Tea dispatch adds that Belgrade
continues Quiet, the people apparently
being reconciled to t|ie ne wcondltlons
Officials hero doubt the truth of the
report that Belgrade Is quiet, as tho
authorities here are unable to secure
further direct dispatches from Bel
grade. Even the official dispatches
which have reached Paris appear to
have been mutilated.
- It Is stated authoritatively that thus
far there has been no exchango of com
munications between the powers con
cerning Prince Peter Karageorge-
vlteh's assumption of the throne of
Sorvla, but the officials are beginning
to seriously consider the dollcate ques
tion of the recognition of the new sov
ereignty. It Is expected that the Ser
vian authorities will convoke a meet
ing of the foreign ministers at Bel
grade and present tho Iattor with def
inite evidence that the people accept
the new government and that It has
the ability to maintain order and guar
antee the safety of foreigners. When
the ministers advlso thotr respective
governmnts that such assurances have
been received the various powers will
determine whether recognition will be
accorded. It 1b considered probable
that the powers will act together on
the question of giving or withholding
recognition. It Is further stated that
If the powers Individually or collective
ly protest against the bloody methods
this Is likely to occur in connection
with the question of recognizing the
new government. The latter thus fal
has not addressed any communication
to the powers, the latter receiving all
their Information from their own min
isters or from agents.

Besides the King and Queen Other
Royal Persons and Government Of
ficials Are Assassinated and Kara-
georgevltch Is Proclaimed King.
Belgrade, Servia, June 11.—A mili
tary revolution broke out here last
night. Tho troops, who revolted un
der tho leadership of Major Angi-
kovics, surrounded the palace, assas-
elnnated King Alexander, Queen Dra
gs, the latter’s sister, the queen’s
brother, Nlkodem; Premier Marko-
vitch and Tudorovlcs, General Pavlo-
vltch, the former minister of war, and
some of the members of the royal
guard. Prince Karageorgvitch was
proclaimed king.
A new government was formed and
the following proclamation was Issued:
“To the Servian people: Last night
the king and queen were shot. In
this grave and fateful moment
friends of the Fatherland have com
bined to form a new government
While the government makos this an
nouncement to tho people, it is an
nounced that the Servian people will
gather round and lend It their aid to
maintain order and security through
out the land.
"The government hereby makes
known that from today the constitu
tion of April 6, 1901, comes In force.
A meeting of the national representa
tives dissolved by the proclamation
of March 2-1 Is summoned to meet at
Belgrade Juno 15. (Signed) Jovan
Avakumovics, premier. Ijubonur Kal-
levics, foreign minister; Stojan Pro-
tics, minister of tho interior; George
Genshlcs, minster of commerce; Gen
eral Jorvan Alanzokvlcs, minister of
■war; Voblslav Velikovlcs, minister of
finance; Colonel Alexander Machln,
minister of public works; LJoubimir
Chlckovecs, minister of Justice.”
Tho streets aro thronged with peo
ple whose actions seem to approve the
coup d’etat. M. Protlcs, the new min
ister of tho Interior, was loudly cheer
ed as he drove to the ministry.
iM. Avakumovics, new premier, be
longs to the Independent Liberal par
ty.
As the morning advanced, the ex
citement In the streets grew Bteadily.
In spite of the pouring rain thousands
of people gathered in the vicinity of
tho palace. Everywhere troops of all
arms were posted and field guns were
placed in positions to quickly deal
with any opposition to the newly-
formed government's will. The sol
diers discarded their cockades, bearing
the late King Alexander's cipher, and
substituted for It flowers, green twigs
and leaves.
Bands of young men paraded the
streets waving flags and shouting:
“Long Uve Karageorgevltch!”
Flags are flying from nearly every
house in 'Belgrade, and there Is abso-
lutely no display whatever of crepe
or other signs of mourning. The
royal standard has been lowered from
over the palace. Reports from places
outside Belgrade Indicate that the
country accepts the Obernivltch over
throw without regret.
All the blood In your body passes through
your kidneys once even; three minutes.
S3i a The kidneys are your

Impurities in the blood.
If they areslck or out

their work.
Pains, aches andrheu-

kidney trouble.
Kidney trouble causes quid: or unsteady
heart beats, and makes one feel as though
they had heart trouble, because the heart Is
over-working in pumping thick, kidney-
poisoned blood through veins and arteries.
it used to be considered that only urinary
troubles were to be traced to the kidneys,
but now modern science proves that nearly
all constitutional diseases have their begin
ning in kidney trouble.
If you are sick you can make no mistake
by first doctoring your kidneys. The mild

People Dissatisfied With Alexander's
Actions—Queen Disliked.
London, June 11.—The Servian min
ister said there were many causes
leading to the revolution. A large
section of the people were greatly dis
satisfied with the tendency of King
Alexander to eliminate the radical el'
ement and the contention to appoint
Queen Draga’s brother, Lunjevltza,
heir apparent. In addition to this the
queen was disliked by the people who
were also intensely outraged at the
recent suspension of the constitution.
The minister did not anticipate that
the changes would result In internec
ine strife or In any real dangers to
the country. He pointed out that the
original Karagorvitch was not a
prince. He was a rich swine owner.
Tho father of the new king waa made
a prince In 1842.
The minister also related a curious
Incident. He said that a month ago
he was present at a clariroyant's se
ance st which a letter written by the
murdered king was harided to the
clairvoyant, who Immediately became
violently agitated, proclaimed that
King Alexander would bo assassinated
very shortly and even depicted the
■cone which appears to have been en
acted at the palace at Belgrade dur
ing the night.
The tragedy of the palace at Bel
grade, marking the latest of the revo
lutions which have convulsed Servia
from time to time during the past cen
tury, Is not regarded In diplomatic
circles in London as likely to lead to
civil war. Stress Is laid on the un
popularity of King Alexander since his
marriage to Queen Draga. King Alex
ander's successor, Peter Karagorge-
■ritch, is a son-in-law of the Prince ol
Montenegro and is regarded as being
•lost acceptable to the people.
The universal anxiety of the govern
ments of Europe for peace Is advanced
as a reason why the Servian situation
(i not likely to lead to complications.
Should, however, those unexpectedly
arise, official circles think an Austro-
Hungarian army will Immediately
oafth Into Servia and restore order.
This eventuality, however, Is consid
ered Improbable.
