PARRAMORE-NIX.
Barely be* social Americas witnessed
more beantifal wedding ceremony,
or one under happier auspices, than
that of Miss Mattie Parramore and Mr.
Cliff Nix lait evening.
Tbe residence of the bride’s mother,
Mr*. Emma Parramore, 334 Jackson
etreet, was tbe scene of this brilliant
event, and assembled there was a large
eompauy of relative* end friends to
witness the rites, impressively solemn
ized by Bev. B. L. Bivins, of Farlow
Lawn ebnreb.
And a more peifectly beantifal home
wedding coa.d scarcely have been oon-
ceived, everything blending in perfect
harmony.
Tbe parlors, bail and reception rooms
were handsomely decorated. '
Smilax, stately palms and eat flower*

tistic skill was ohaarvad in the arrange
ment of tbe floral ornaments and the
wedding was,, withal, an ideal one in
Ibis glorious Janetime.
Precisely at 8:*) the tridal paity en
tered tne parlor.
The pretty bride wore a superb
gown of whit* silk veiling, trimmed
with point lace, and carried g shower
bouquet of sweet peas and daintv ferns,
eaneht with tnila streamers. Sorely
a bride never appeared more raciantly
lovely than did this oharming yonng

MttaLena Parramore, eieterof the
bride and maid of honor, wore a cos-

Morgan served aa beat man of the oo-
eaeion.
As Mr. Birins received tbe vows of
the yonng oonple a soft air rendered
by Mies Callaway, presiding at the
piano, fell a* a benediction over all.
After congratulations, numerous and
einoere, had been extended, the wed
ding oompany was ushered into the
dining room where an elegant and
sumptuous collation was served. The
dining room was decorated in smilax
and sweet pees, and was beantifal
withal.
The bridal presents wereHooetlyjand

Many spent a sieeprew night of vigi

Fourteen residences and stores, own
ed by those known as Oardwell-Cock-
rell sympathizers, have been burned
In Jackson since 1900 and the num
ber of Uvea lost greatly exceeds that
number.
One week ago the trial of Jett and
White began. Many witnesses fled,
and tho commonwealth had to dose
its case because witnesses could not
be secured. The fate of B. L. Baron,
one of the witnesses who did not run
away, shows that tho apprehension* of
other witnesses were well grounded.
This feud-rlddon town, the people of
which had somewhat shaken off Intim
idation nnder martial law, Is today
the same timid place aa before tba
atate militia arrived. When the troop*
were first sent here thero was a feel
ing of relief and the people said that
some of the wrong* wonld be right
ed, because the Intimidated citizen*
would now talk nut. Since the burn
ing yesterday of the large new hotel
of B. J. Ewan, the principal witness
against Jett and White, and the rally
of the Hargis faction to the aid ot the
men suspected with having burned it,
the hopeful citizens shake their heads
sod say today the state can render
no relief.
The newly finished Ewen hotel had
40 rooms, and it was greatly needed. It
la pointed out that of the 14 Incen
diary fires here during tbe past two
and a half years, ten of them have tak
en place In tho daytime. Th* Ewen
family, Including seven children In th*
military camp, presented t pitiable
spectacle today. Ewen tried to con
sole his heartbroken wife and daugh
ters, but their distress was too great
Tbe two daughters had escaped from
the burning hotel In wrappers and th*
smaller children In their night clothes.
Kind-hearted citizens, atthougb feeling
that In doing so they are risking their
lives and property, havo sent them
clothing and bedding. They were
breakfasted by the soldiers, Quarter
master Casey making them an especial
bill of fare.
Scores of people gathered nearby ts
look at them. Major Allen, In oharge
of the troops, ordered the crowd* die
persed and tba guard line* sot back
so that tba distressed 'family might
not b* annoyed.
i ne Jail last night was under a heavy
guard. Tha prison era suspected with

would have no opportunity to escape.
They were greatly frightened daring
the night, fearing a mob would com*
to release them and that th* soldiers
would shoot thtm. Crawford cried
during th* night and repeated, “What
• fool! What a fool I am!”
It l* beMtved these men will be re

The people of the town are complete

fear than ever.
Joe Crawford and M Tharp were
brought bafore Judge Redwtne this
morning and testimony heard on th*

their release by the Hargis people yes
terday. Oray Haddlcks and Jerry
Lunsford Identified Crawford as one of
the men seen coming from the Ewes

and A. H. Short said he saw Crawford
