SAVANNAH, October 17.—(Special)
—Special rates for conventions and
reunions are no longer to be bad for
tho mere asking on some of tbe roads
at least.
This fact became known when
committee from McLaw’s Camp
Confederate Veterans, reported Its
failure to get cither a special car
or a reduced rate for those who want
to attend the state reunion at Augus
ta next month.
The committee reported than an ef
fort had been made to get some satis,
faction from the Central officials re
lative to special rates for trips, but
there was nothing doing. The veterans
are hopeful, however, as they expect
the Augusta Committee to meet with
more success and at least secure a
one-fare rate for the round trip. Even
at that, though, from all appearances
the railroad doesn't intend to
about the matter with Its accustomed
alacrity.
