PLENTY OF TURKEY IS
HERE FOR A DINNER
Americus Will be Feasting
> Xmas Day.
With the week before Christmas
at hand, the royal birdB that go to
swell the Xmas dinner will come
trooping to town In plentiful sup
ply between this date and next Sat
urday, and the price of a fat turk
will be within the reach of all—who
have the price. *
Americus had an abundance of
turkey for the recent Thanksgiving
feast, and there will be no change in
the program as applied to the forth
coming Christmas dinner.
The big birds are plentiful in the
country and they will be brought in
by the wagon load this week.
From $1.50 to $2.50 the higher price
comandlng a truly noble fowl, good
turkeys can be had for the needs of
any family, unless the views of Pres
ident Teddy on the anti-race suicide
question have been too literally in
terpreted.
In many homes the fruit cakes to
be eaten at the hlght of the holidays
are already prepared, housewives find
ing that the necessary Ingredients are
slightly cheaper than last year. The
dib'erence, Is slight and the finished
cake represents about the cost that
it has for year& i
Other things show little change In
price over last Christmas and famil
ies who have been counting up the
cost of Christmas dinners for years
know that to lay away from $5 to $6
wi' provide for the average family a
holiday meal with all the additions
and extras.
And Americus is going to feast ac
cordingly.

LUMBERMEN HOPEFUL
OF BETTER PRICES
Present Situation a Most
Discouraging One.
Mr. A. W. Allison has returned from
Tifton where he went to be present
at the monthly, meeting of the Geor-
gla-Florlda Saw Mill Association. He
reports that the meeting was well
attended, but that many of the saw
mill men were greatly discouraged.
“It looks blue for the mill men,"
said Mr. Alison yesterday. “Prices
are so low that the cost of the lutn
her cannot be obtained. Many mills
have shut down but others are com
pelled to keep on even at losses be
cause their stumpage lease will ex
pire soon and they have to get
much aa possible sawed. One mill
man said that he had not sold a fodt
of lumber for three months. His cut
had been stacked In the yards..
“However, the darkest hour is Just
before dawn, and I found a feeling
quite general that after, the first of
the year a decided improvement In
prices will take place. It is believed
tbat the railroads and car builders
wll be forced into the market for ma
terials at an early date and when this
happens prices will take a consider
able rise.
“Another thing which seemed to
hang over , the market was the un
certainty as to Roosevelt's candidacy.
At the time of the meeting his'state-
raent that he would not again be
candidate had not been Issued. The
sentiment was that conditions would
improve when It became certain that
he w-ould not run again.”

Badly Mixed Up.
Abraham Brown, % of Wlnterton, N.
Y., had a very remarkable experience.
He says: “Doctors got badly mixed
up over me; one said heart disease;
two called It kidney trouble; the
fourth blood/ poison, and the fifth
stomach and liver trouble; but none
of them helped me; so my wife ad
vised trying, Eledtrlc Bitters, which
are restoring me to perfect health.
One bottle did mp* more good than all
the five doctors prescribed." -Guaran

and all stomach, liver and kidney
complaints, by Eldrldge Drug Co. 50c.
