Architect T. F. Lockwood, of Colum
bus, is now finishing plans for the
rebuilding of the structure at tho Cor
ner of Jackson and Forsythi streets,
the property 'of Mr. Charles L. Ans
ley. -
This Is one oLthe best known bus!
ness properties In Amerlcus. For many
years it occupied a prominent position
In a mercantile way, but for the past
year or two It has been unoccupied.
It was bought In 1905 by Mr. Ansley,
who bad In minds the occupying of It
by his own mercantile establishment.
Mr. Ansley recently decided to push
his plans, complete the reconstruction
and renovation of the building, and
take possession of it aa soon as pos
sible. Architect Lockwood was en
gaged, baa completed hla plans, and
work will bogln In a few days.
AVhen the alterations have been
completed the old building will not be
recognized. It will bo In fact, a re
built building. The entire front will
be removed and a tine pressed brick
front with great plate glass show win
dows substituted The Forsyth/street
side will undergo extensive changes
that will entirely alter its appear
ance, with addltlohal magnificent win
dows there for the display of merchan
dise. The floor will bo lowered to tbo
Iovel of the streets, and the eqttre In
terior will be renovated. AVhen com
pleted tho store will be one of tbo
most attractive n Amerlcus.
In preparation for the removal, Mr.
Ansley today announces tbe beginning
of a great aale that will take In every
department of his extensive stock, and
will offer to tbe public some remark
able bargain!. He announces bis pur
pose In a half page advertisement on
page 4, and cites a tew of'the host
of tempting propositions tluft await
the public. The clearing out of stock
preparatory to removal will be pu»n-
ed as rapidly aa poaa’ble, aa when the
workmen begin on the building there
will be no effort spared to push the
alterations to completlpn.
This affords an exceptional oppor
tunity as It Is seldom. Indeed, that a
fresh spring and summer stock .s
offered at the very beglnnlo* of the
season under such conditions as these
Only the magnitude of the slock leads
Mr. Ansley to Inaugurate tbe sale at

Trees Here Bending Under
Weight.
Fruit Finest in Years—
No Insects in Evi
dence Here.
With 1 half a million peach tree,
fruited to their capacity with healthy
young peaches, the big orchards about
Amerlcus give assurance now of the
finest crop in years, and the owners
of these magn flcent tracts of waving
trees are correspondingly elated at
the golden prospeot.
The young peaches, now the size ol
partridge eggs, are firm and of
healthy appearance, and show no evi
dence of the sting of the much-dread
ed curcullo.
• This is the bug that produces the
worm which attacks tho peach, ren
dering its worthless.
In tbe halt dozen big orchards near
Amerlcus very little evidence of the
curcullo Is to be seen, and orchard
owners are vigorously spraying trees
In order to ward off this plague. They
do not anticipate any danger from the
Insects this season.
And if half tbe peaches now on the
trees remain, a bumper crop and brok
en boughs are assured for tbe weight
will be too great.
Amerlcus orchards will begin ship
ping the first peaches of the early va
rieties late In May, and as other va
rieties ripen the packing house force
will be kept busy until the Elberta
crop Is shipped, between July 5th
and 20th. The Elberta season Is a
short and busy one.
Out at the Bagley-Gober Orchard
Co.'s plant, where 250,000 trees will
yield a fine crop this year, all prep
arations are being made for handling
tbe crop expeditiously. The same is
true of the Raymond, Ware, Hansford
and AA’addell orchards, among tbe fin
est In this section.
Several hundred car loads of peach
es will be shipped from Americus an®
the crop will be a profitable one this
year.
