THE AMERICUS WEEKLY TIjVlES-RECORDER. THURSDAY. APRIL 14. 1910
NATURE’S
* TONIC
BIG flRt IN COMPRESS
BURNS UP 400 BALES
Any system that needs a tonic needs alsq a blood puri-
ffier. for it is the weakened, impure condition of thecircu-
Jation that is responsible for the run-down state of health.
The supreme office and duty of the bloo<l is to lur-
i/nish nourishment to every portion of the body, rne cir-
iSculatory system, magnificent and wonderful in its con
struction, supplies the means for the distribution of sys
temic nutriment to every muscle, nerve, bone, gland, sin
ew and tissue of the body; and just as long as the blood
.remains pure and rich each of these members are healthy,
strong and normal.
We have only to recognize the importance of pure
.Mood in/ preserving health, to realize the danger of a
'weakened circulation. The use of a proper tonic when
-the system is depleted and run-down will often prevent
the development of some serious sickness, because weak , . —
systems cannot resist disease, while healthy systems are able to ward it off.
Deficient blood nutriment is usually manifested in a general bodily
weakness, a tired, worn-out feeling, fickle appetite, poor digestion, etc.
Sleep does not sufficiently refresh the body, and the languid feeling fre
quently makes the ordinary duties of life burdensome. .
a 3 S. S. S. is Nature’s Tonic. It is
made entirely of botanical products
gathered directly from the heart of
Nature’s forests. It does not contain
a particle of strong, harmful mineral
in any form, but is a scientific composi
tion of extracts and juices from herbs,
roots and barks. S. S. S. is the great
est of all tonics, because it is the
greatest of all blood purifiers. It is
not a nerve stimulant, but a medicine
that steadily builds up every portion
of the system by cleansing and en-
richicg the blood, and in this way sup-
tdving an increased amount of nourishment and strength to every portion of
the body. S. S. S. rids the system of that tired, worn-out feeling, quiets the
over-strained nerves, makes sleep refreshing, corrects any stomach disturb
ance, promotes good digestion and adds vigor and vim to the entire system.

•TONIC OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.”
S. S. 8. is all yon claim for it to
•:.r<ch and renovate the blood and
to build upthe general health. My
blood was weak and impure, and 1
was troubled with a general let
ting down of the system. The
symptoms are too well known for
me to detail. It is only necessary
for me to state that under the fine
tonic and blood purifying ofleets
of 8. 8. 8. my appetite improved. I
inoroasod in strength ana weight
and my blood was restored to its
normal, healthy condition.

ties here were Interested therein.
The fire protection In the town was
wholly Inadequate to cope with the
fire, espec'ally after It reached the
•100 bales of cotton, and the flames
quickly spread over the plant, making ]an(Jg trac t, embracing some eighty
of it a fiery vortex.
The origin of the fire Is supposed to
have been accidental, probably re
sulting from a spark.
The cotton stored In the press was
said to have been fully Insured. It 13
not known what amount of Insurance
was carried upon the building.
The R’ch'land press was about two
years old and was owned principally

BOUGHT HIGHLAND
TRAGI Of MR. COUNCIL
South Carolinian Makes
Ihird Purchase.
Thinks Outlook for City
and County Best of
Them All.
The Investment of South Carolina
money In Americus and Sumter coun
ty real estate still continues When
ever a South Carolinian gets hold of
a good thing in dirt he Immediately
looks around for another opportunity
to make what he believes will be
profitable Investment, and If not !n
pos'tlon to buy any fore himself di
rects the attention of his friends to
wtiat Is offering.
Yesterday Mr. B. F. Arthur, of Un
Ion, S. C., made his third purchase
here within a week. This time he
secured the remainder of the H'gh
building lots already laid out on i
well prepared plan. They are bound
ed by the Seaboard, Elm avenue, How
ard street and Glessner street, and
adjoin the Howard tract and the
Bahnsen tract, purchased last week
by Mr. Arthur.
Mr. Arthur Is not yet ready to
nounce what he Is going to do with
the Highland tract and the other 62
acres purchased by him. He looks
on them as good Investments, though
Mr. Arthur Is enthusiastic over Amer
icus and Sumter county and believes
no place has any greater future than
this If Its people get to work In Its
Interest.
The South Carolinian returned
Union la3t night. He will be back In
a few days. Perhaps some other Caro
linians will be with him. It looks
very much' like South Carolina pro
poses to annex Americus and the re
mainder of Sumter county within the
next year or two.
Soldier Balks Dentil Plot.
It seemed to J. A. Stone, a civil war
veteran, of Kemp, Tex., that a plot ex
isted between a desperate lung trou
ble and the grave to cause his death.
“I contracted a stubborn cold,” he
writes,, “that developed a cough that
stuck to me, In spite of all remedies,
for years. My weight ran down to 130
pounds. Then I began to use Dr.
King's New Discovery, which restor
ed my health completely. I now
weigh 178 pounds." For severe colds,
obstinate coughs, hemorrhages, asth
ma, and to prevent pneumonia its

OAT FIEDS IN DANGER
AS RESULT OF THE DROUGHT
Furntcrs Here Arc Alarmed Over the
Situation.
Sumter’s farmers, and orchard
owners as well, are worried over the
prevailing drought, a condition mo3t
unusual at ihls season. It has not
rained here in several weeks, or since
early In Marchi and the tender young
crops are suffering greatly. Danger
to the oat crop confronts the farmer,
as it Is at this period that the young
plants take on their growth. Young
corn and cotton arc suffering for rain,
as are gardens and truck farms. All
over this section of Georgia rain Is
needed.
