ELLAVILLE, Ga.. Feb. 24.—On Mon
day aft-moon at the Baptist church,
Mrs. L B. Lott and Mrs. C. A. Cham
bliss. of Americus. addressed the mem
bers of the Woman’s Missionary So
ciety and their frlendr on the import
ance of missionary work. They spoke
of the needs of the work at home ,an J
abroad and the responsibility that rests
on each individual In sending the goa
l-el to those who are less fortunate
than ourselves. Their remarks were
greatly enjoyed by all present, and
111 no doubt result in much good

were glad to welcome both she and
^frs. Lott in our midst and trust they
may come again.

Monday evening at the Methodist
church, Rev. O. H. Walker, of Parrot?,
delivered a moat forceful tertnon on
church extension. This was the first
f a series of sermons arranged by the
Presiding Elder of the Americus dis
trict to be preached here thla week.
These sermons are intended to give
the people a better understanding of
the work of the Methodist church and
to disseminate knowledge concerning
the Institutions of the church.

ment of his candidacy for the Republi
can nomination for president with tho

The announcement was filed in or
der to comply with provisions of tho
Ohio state primary law. and is the
first to be filed under its provisions.
Senator Burton when in congress was
aligned with the progressive republi
cans, and is a supporter of Theodore
Roosevelt’s policies, but did not sup
port Roosevelt when he bolted the
Chicago convention, two years ago.
