BY JACK SIT.AT A man that can’t mix politics with his religion, desires a kind and grade |)f polities that would disgrace a re¬ spectable poodle. The recent tains has produced a won delful improvement in crops generally, mid the farmers look somewhat better. Polities is the science or art of gov¬ ernment and every individual shouVl post himself, or else he can not vote us be prays. It is passing strange to us why a gold bug will accept silver as a legal leader in every day’s business transac¬ tion, yot it is a fact, and they u illingly accept it too. It is n hard matter to tell which fares the worst just now, t he (lour barrel, sugar box, or blackberry bushes. lu this age of tin world, in this gen¬ eration ut tree born Americans, we a e accustomed to i Link of a tyrant as an ighuman persecutor who exists only in tile Vague, myi terious regions of the past. But alter a century of seif g< v ennnent, the Ameiiean people are be¬ ginning to realize that the* tyrants are upl all dead. In fact the tin s despotic, the most arrogant, the most imperious autocrat the world lias evei known, the most ruthless, truculent and implacable enemy that ever devastated humanity, is,the remorseless, inexorable tyrant, debt. ^Sudi a political upheaval as human eyes are going to behold in the next 18 months in old Georgia and else¬ where, you just can’t imagine. Guess k whoso heart is iosl iu * the “raoou shine” regions ? To be sure it ain’t Jessie's. If there is a living individul upon tin face of God’s trreen eartli that de¬ serves the frown and ill will of satan In itself, its the tattler. He can tare udvr more communities and put to >1»- » . uioreTi icTadstiip ttfaii any' demon on earth, for he is a demon in human Heath. (Jgeechec River for, the pa-t. week has been lull of spinets, and those o the tinny tribe that escaped unhurt have done so with but little room to brag in. The “fourth” this year was a luxury and an enjoyment that but few of we “hayseeders” could participate in ow¬ ing to surrounding circumstances. Debt w ith all of Lis satellites arrayed upon the cue side, Gen. Green mar¬ shalling his forces upon the other, and then mixed with this our voluptious sympathies for a crop with the almost mortgaged out of it. We just couldn’t refuse our assistance, and we made a charge upon the old General in com¬ memoration of Independence day. We were victorious. The recent rains have been very propitious for planting late peas and several have been engaged in planting them in this section. The October term of Warren county •Superior Court will have live or six murder cases to dispose of. Our sister county has certainly got her share of them this lime. I’eoplc generally have gone right into canning and drying fruit, and there will be a great deal saved with no had luck. This is a step in the right direction, and will cut provision bills during the winter months. MAN ! MAN ! POOR MAN ! Man that is born of woman is of a few |days and lull of microbes. He hoppeth out of bed in the morning, and his foot is pierced by the tack of disappointment. He sitleth down to rest at noonday and he is stabbed in his nether anatomy by the pin of disaster. He walkcth through the streets of the city in the pride and glory of man¬ hood and slippeth on the banana peel of misfortune and unjointeth his neck. He smoketh the cigar of content¬ ment and, behold, it explodeth with a loud noise, for it was loaded. He slklelh down the hamsters of life aud ,imklh lhem ful1 ef lhe ^inters of torture. He lieth down to sleep at night and 8 tung by the mosquitoes of annoy ance and bis frame is gnawed by the bed-bugs of adversity, What is man but the blind worm of fate ? Behold he is impaled upoD the hook of despair and fornisheth bait for the ' leviathan Death, in the ocean of time ! Sorrow and travail follow him all the flats of his life. In his infancy ho is afflicted with worms and colic and in his old ago he is tortured by rheumatism and ingrow¬ ing toe-nails. lie marrieth a cross-eyed woman be¬ cause her father is rich and lindeth she hath not sense enough to In meat. His father-in law then moukeyeth with options and gneth under. What is a man but a tumor on the neck of exislanee ? He playcth the races and hetteth his all on the brown mare because lie hath received a tip. The sorrel gelding with a bald face wimielh by a neck. Behold he runneth for otllce and the dead heat pulleth his leg ever and anon, and then votelh against him. He exalteth himself among his peo¬ ple and swelleth with pride, but when the votes are counted he lindeth that his name is pants.
