Ellaville pays almost as much for cot

pay for the storage, while the large cit

This is an item worth consideration.
The continuous rains last Saturday
was bad on the circus, but it saved Sun -

dollars that would have been carried off
by the circus crowd if the day had been
fair.

A Schley county citizen, living ten
miles from town, sent a man to Ellaville
in the rain one day last week to pay his
taxes for him. Not knowing exactly
the amount of taxes due. the man got to
town before he discovered that he had
not brought cash enough, and' will have
to make the trip again. It was awfully
provoking, but if the citizen had been a
subscriber to the Schley County News
lie would have been saved all this annoy
ance, as there is a precinct near his
home and tax collector Murphy publish
es in the News his appointments at all
the precincts in the county. A man
never loses anything and is sure to gain
something by reading his county paper.
The Sylvania Telephone pertinently
asks:—“Why send your children off to
distant schools, where expenses are
heavy, when you have an accessible in
stitution in vour midst, offering equal
facilities, and at greatly reduced rates:’
We might appropriately ask the same
question here. Every one should pat
ronize home institutions when the facii
ities and advantages are any way near
equal.
Many Schley Countians went over to
Americus Saturday lo see the circus in
spite of the bad weather, hut they were
all disappointed, the show was on hand
but the rain fell so continuously that
it could not set up and exhibit. Our
dwil was determined not to pay his rail
road fare for nothing so he went around
and toe k in the circus and managerie as
it stoo l on the side track.
