TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF PICKENS
COUNTY, GEORGIA:
Notice is hereby given that on the 18th day
of March 2003, an election will be held at the
regular polling places in all the election
districts of Pickens County, Georgia, at which
time there will be submitted to the qualified
voters of Pickens County for their
determination the question of whether a
special sales and use tax of 1% shall be
imposed on all sales and uses in Pickens
County for a period of time not to exceed 20
calendar quarters, commencing July 1, 2003,
to raise not more than $14,450,000 to be used
to finance (i) Improvements to E-911
Communication Facility; (ii) Remodeling and
upgrading Pickens County Detention Facility
and upgrading Pickens County Sheriff
Department; (iii) Purchase new fire trucks and
equipment, and construct new fire houses; (iv)
Construct an Emergency Medical Services
facility, purchase new ambulances and
equipment; (v) To finance the improvement of
existing water department facilities and water
lines; AND For the raising of not more than
$7,550,000 to be used to finance the paving
and resurfacing new and existing roads,
streets and bridges throughout the county for
a period of time not to exceed 20 calendar
quarters, commencing July 1,2003.
The ballots to be used at such election
shall have written or printed thereon

p.m.
Those residents of Pickens County
qualified to vote at such election shall be
determined in all respects in accordance with
the election laws of the State of Georgia.
This notice is given pursuant to a resolution
of the Commissioner of Pickens County,
Georgia and an order of the Superintendent of
Elections of Pickens County.
