lead in the second half through
determination and hustle in winning
43-25. Allison had 23 points on the
day, including many where she just
took it at the Fannin defense and
dared them to stop her. Anderson
had six points and many of the
assists for Tennant’s scores, while
Rich scored four and Stephens,
Brown and Caity Carver each had
two.
The most dramatic game of the
day saw the 8th grade Dragons pull
out the stops in the fourth quarter
and overcome a 32-27 deficit com
ing into the period to win 45-39.
Down by nine at the half, it was a
great win for the boys, who had
three players in double figures on
the day. Weaver led the way with
19, while Taylor had 14 and Jones
had 12 to account for all of the
scoring.
The last games to report on saw
the 8th grade teams host Woodstock
on the 14th. Woodstock provided a
solid test for the girls, as they had a
lot of big players on their team, but
none who had an answer for Ten
nant, who once again had 23 points.
It got closer than the 23-15 lead the
team held at the half a couple times,
but in the end it was 43-34, Drag-
onettes. Anderson had six, Rich had
five, Stephens had three and Willis
had two for the rest of the scoring.
The boys suffered another tough
loss, 46-42, after leading for much
of the second and third quarters. It
was a slow start at 9-3 Woodstock,
but the Dragons roared back to go
up 18-15 at intermission and still
had the lead at 28-27 heading into
the fourth. Weaver was hot once
again, with 21 points, while Taylor
had 12, Cheshire had four, Bernard
had three and Jones had two.
The teams were scheduled to
play Dean Rusk last Saturday, but a
scheduling conflict at Rusk caused
the games to be cancelled and they
probably won’t be made up. Games
are scheduled at Georgie for
Wednesday and Thursday, then all
teams host Jasper Middle on Satur
day at PCMS.
