Annual football banquet
held Saturday, January 7
Last Saturday night the
1966 Pickens High School
football team was honored
with a banquet by their par
ents. G.D. Mosley and
Broward Garrison were in
charge of arrangements. Ap
proximately 60 boys, their
dates, cheerleaders, man
agers, and parents attended
the banquet held at the Se
quoia Restaurant. The boys
and cheerleaders were pre
sented with engraved 1966
silver miniature footballs.
Don Boggus acted as Master
of Ceremonies and presented
the speaker for the evening.
Former Dragon Coach Jim
Ollis gave an excellent talk
on the values of participation
in competitive athletics. Just
as a boy must have a desire to
win before there can be a
winning team, Coach Ollis
said, so must one have a de
sire to succeed in life before
he can succeed and con
tribute to society. Dragon
Coach Bill Spurling pre
sented trophies to outstand
ing members on the 1966
team. The entire team voted
on players to determine the
winners.
