Over 100 patriotic citizens
came to Tutton Chrysler
Dodge Jeep Ram, Highway
515 in Jasper, on February
24th to witness the raising of
a gigantic U. S. flag measur
ing 45’x25’ and extending
100 feet into the heavens.
Extra-large flags are des
ignated as “garrison flags” by
the Army for special occa
sions and the new one at the
dealership is about the same
size that Scott Francis Keys
saw flying over Fort
McHenry when he wrote the
national anthem.
The occasion was to raise
the flag and hold a Chamber
of Commerce ribbon cutting
but was more than a business
event for owner Drew Tutton.
His patriotism, family values
and Christian witness were at
the heart of his address to the
attendees.
“I want to thank you for
being here on one of the
biggest days of my life and
sharing in my dream of own
ing Jasper Jeep,” said an
emotional Tutton, a resident
of Waleska. He thanked for
mer owner Mike Lowe for
the legacy and brand that he
built over 46 years and for
giving “my team the opportu
nity to serve this great com
munity.”
Tutton invited members of
the Marine Corps League
Detachment 1280 to raise the
flag with the assistance of
other community veterans.
“To me, our flag represents
God, His love and grace for
us, our families, our country,
our freedom and patriotism,”
Tutton said. “All of this is our
core values as a company.”
His firsthand view of pa
triotism came from his dad
who served in Vietnam with
the Army, ft was Tutton’s
high school coach, after he
quit school, that got his atten
tion telling him, “you can
stay here and be a deadbeat
or come with me.”
“1 came from a dead-end
road to open roads because
God opens roads,” Tutton
said.
Those open roads have led
the once auto sales associate
to being the managing part
ner of Ed Voyles in Marietta
and Birmingham, owner of
Tutton CDJR Jasper, owner
of two Open Roads Complete
RV dealers in White and Ac-
worth plus other businesses.
Tutton’s remarkable story

The National Institute of
Diabetes and Digestive and
Kidney Diseases reports that
chronic kidney disease
(CKD) affects more than 37
million Americans, or
roughly one in seven adults
in the United States.
Approximately one-third
of individuals in the U.S.
with diabetes also have kid
ney disease. In addition,
roughly one in five adults
with high blood pressure
have kidney disease. Kidney
transplants save lives every
day, and the U.S. Organ Pro
curement and Transplanta
tion Network indicates nearly
23,000 kidney transplants
were completed in 2020.
However, Americans with
kidney disease may need to
wait a significant period of
time before they can receive
a transplant.
The United States Renal
Data System 2020 Annual
Data Report indicated that
the median wait time for a
kidney transplant for individ
uals with end-stage kidney
disease is 49.2 months. That
wait time can be traced to
various factors, including a
shortage of organ donors and
the amount of people cur
rently on the wait list, which
the USOPTN indicates in
cluded more than 90,000
people as of August 2021.
