THINGS THAT NEVER D\K.
m
The pure, the bright, the beautiful,**
That sfirre l our hearts in youth;
The impulse to a wordless prayer,
The dreams of love and truth,
The longing afte r s< methins* oet,
The spirit’s yearnimr cry,
The striving after hptter hopes—
These things can m ver die.
The timin hand stretched fourth to aid
A brother in his need:
The kindly word m grief’s dork In nr
That proves a friend irntred—
The plea for mercy, softly breathed,
When justice threatend high.
The s irrovv of a centrito heart—
These things shall .jcver die.
The memory of a closping hand
The pressure of a kiss,

That make up li e’s bliss!

world, and yet we know that it does
exist, though few and far between.
There are friends who are friends ouly

storms of adversity beat upon you, if
the foiiduiu is brokeu upland your
vessel is stranded these trie lids take to
them selves wiugs and fly away, dis¬
appear without warniug,

But what a contrast! The true
friends, if you get into trouble, stn-l s
closer to you than a brother, and need
only to be tested to show they 'are of
pure gold relieved of its d:oss or a//oy.
