Levi Banks was fourth in the 145 pound class.
Chaz Hammock was fifth in the 152 pound class while
Christian Bostic was fifth in the 195 pound class.

LCMS soccer
off to hot start
The LCMS Trojans and
Lady Trojans opened
the 2021 soccer season
last week with four wins,
outscoring opponents
38-0. Three of the games
ended by mercy rule.
The season opened
with LC hosting Crawford
County on Feb. 8. The
Lady Trojans rolled to a
10-0 win. Ava Bushby led
LCMS with three goals
and an assist. Giada
Ritch had two goals.
Emily McEvers had a
goal and an assist as did
Jenny Beverly.
Wren Lonberg, Ava
Lonberg and M’Kenzie
Smith had single goals
for the Lady Trojans
while Rachel Taylor had
an assist.
In the nightcap, the
Trojans also recorded a
10-0 win.
Caleb Miller had four
goals for the locals.
Garrison Selph, Hayden
Cherry, Tanner Garvin,
Kaden Carter, Broxton
Lanier and Markiviyon
Dugger had one goal
each.
McIntosh had two
assists while Axel Garcia,
Aiden Romero and Kaden
Wilson had one apiece.
On Feb. 10, Byron
came to town and the
Lady Trojans rolled to
another 10-0 mercy rule
win. Ritch had three
goals to pace LCMS while
Smith and Bushby had
two goals each. Bushby
also had two assists.
McEvers had one goal
and two assists while
Krista Hatfield and Ava
Lonberg had one goal
each.
The Trojans stopped
Byron 8-0 behind three
goals from Miller who
also had one assist.
Selph, Cherry, McIntosh,
Carter and Bloxham each
had single goals. Selph
and McIntosh each had
two assists while Lanier
and Garcia had one each.
The LCMS teams play
at Upson-Lee Wednesday.

The LC Lady Trojans,
ranked #4 in last week’s
Sandy’s Spiel poll, split
two games last week,
losing only their sec
ond region game in the
final week of
the regular
season. The
Lady Trojans
are now 17-5
overall and
10-2 in region
action and
will host a
first round
state tourna
ment game here Feb. 23.
On Tuesday, LC trav
eled to Sandersville to
take on #7 Washington
County and got blown
out 73-45, their worst
loss of the season. Tamya
Blasingame had 20 points
to pace LC. Shakiria
Foster was also in double
figures with 16 points.
Other scorers were
Zaria Fletcher (4), Kade-
jah Lyons (3), Janiyah
Akins (1) and Lauren
Wilcher (1).
LC bounced back
Friday with a 47-23 win
over SW Macon at the
local gym. Blasingame
again led the way with
18 points while Fletcher
had 10. Other scorers
were Zakiria
Foster (7),
Journi Harris
(4), Wilcher
(3), Chelsea
Scott (2),
Shakiria Fos
ter (2) and
Lyons (1).
On the
boys side,
the Trojans also got
blown out by WACO 84-
36. None among the Tro
jans could reach double
figures.

Rain halts Lamar soccer for a week
The LC soccer teams had one match scheduled
last week at East Laurens and that contest was can
celed due to wet field conditions.
The Trojans are 1-1-1 for the young season while
the Lady Trojans are 1-2-0. The lone matches this
week are tonight at Peach County.
Last week, the LC junior varsity traveled to Locust
Grove and recorded a 9-0 win.
