Soccer doubleheader

The Blue Devils are un
defeated with a record of
18- 0-2. They were tied by
Cartersville 3-3 and Car
rollton 2-2. They opened
postseason play with
a 10-0 win over Rabun
County then topped
Model 5-0 in round two.
The Trojans advanced
with a hard-fought 3-2
win over Fitzgerald here
Thursday. LC got first
half goals from Chip
Crawford, Josh Moore
and Justin Brannan then
held on late as the Purple
Hurricane roared back.
Jackson Callaway had
several critical saves in
the net for
LC as the
clock wound
down.
As with
the girls
teams, the
Trojans
(134-1) and
Blue Devils
have no
common op
ponents. Bremen topped
LC 5-0 last season. The
Devils beat LC twice in
2019 by scores of 2-0 and
1-0.
The Trojans are on a
12-game winning streak
during which they have
outscored opponents
48-11.
Admission for Wednes
day’s matches is $10. A
large crowd is expected
and bleacher seating is
limited. Plan accordingly
and bring a chair.

track performs well at State
RSCA varsity tennis
qualifies for State
The RSCA varsity boys
and girls tennis teams
recently qualified for
State.
The individual
qualifiers are Josiah
Brown and Phoebe
Davis, who finished
third in singles;
Peyton Davis, who
finished fifth; Abbey
Deal, who finished sixth
and Dylan Zellner and
Landon Cormier, who
finished fifth in doubles.
The teams are coached
by David Strobel
and Mary Anne
Anderson.
The Individual
State Meet is May
10 and the team
State Meet is May
11. Both meets will be
at Berry College Tennis
Center in Rome.

performance during the
GAPPS State Track Meet
in Lamar held on April
23. Two RSCA athletes
earned individual state
championship medals
and two landed state
runner-up titles.
Colton Buchanan, elev
enth grader of Spalding
County, finished first and
earned State Champion
ship in Boys Shot Put
Division 11. He also fin
ished second place, State
Runner-Up in Discus.
Tenth Grader, Madison
Paulk of Spalding County,
finished first place and
earned State Champion
in girls shot put Division
11.
Eleventh Grader,
Denver Camp of Henry
County, finished second
place and earned State
Runner-Up in Boys Triple
Jump Division 11. He also
placed third in the Boys
Long Jump.
The Varsity track team
is coached by Coach
Dolores Owen and Coach
Caleb Lenard.

Ga. Horsepower wins big at meet
The Georgia Horsepower 11-12 track team won their age
group at the Track Lab meet at Peachtree Ridge High School
over the weekend. Makayla Watts won the high points award.
