LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY
Compiled from a summary of incident reports
completed by Lamar deputies during the period May
26-June 1,2021.
On May 26, Dep. Justyn Weaver was observing
traffic at the intersection of Barnesville and Morgan
Dairy roads when he spotted a gray Ford Mustang
with no tag. The driver, Jamar M. Copes, 30, said he
had just bought the car but the paperwork was at his
home. A check revealed the car was still registered to
the previous owner and that there was no insurance
on it.
Copes insisted there was insurance through
Progressive. A check with the company using the
V1N again revealed no insurance. The Mustang was
impounded. Copes was cited for no tag and no insur
ance.
On May 27, Dep. Barclay Banta was dispatched to
Rock Springs Church where Cameron Shiflett re
ported a man he had been talking to for several hours
said he had information on a murder. The man said
he heard his girlfriend tell someone on the phone that
her aunt’s son had killed his mother’s ex-boyfriend on
the east side of Griffin.
The phone conversation was overhead at a home
located in Concord. The man agreed to talk to inves
tigators and was taken to C1D where he was turned
over to Sgt. Tim Davis.
On May 28, Sgt. Bossie Davis was dispatched to a
home on Country Kitchen Road regarding a dispute
between landlord and tenant over a broken window
and screen door. The landlord wanted a report on file.
On May 28, Sgt. Wayman Henson worked a ha
rassing communications complaint at a home at 189
Church St.
On May 29, Dep. Anthony Redding worked a do
mestic dispute involving a father and son at a home
on Evergreen North.
On May 29, Dep. William Holt worked the case of a
missing Titan t-post driver from a pavilion at 670 Ze-
bulon Rd. The owner valued the equipment at $1500.
On May 29, Dep. Coleman Carter was dispatched
to 885 Brent Road where a woman found tire tracks
that ran across her yard and into some bushes. A
camper top had been left behind by a mystery driver.
An insurance card was found in the yard. The insur
ance card was for a black 1986 Ford truck.
On May 29, Dep. Redding was dispatched to Jones
Road regarding a tree across the roadway. He was
able to remove the tree but also found an old Chevy
pickup blocking the road. There was no insurance on
the truck. It was deemed a hazard and towed.
On May 29, at 2:48 a.m., Sgt. Davis was dispatched
to a home on Whispering Pines Trail where two
males, brothers-in-law, had been fighting. Both had
been drinking and quarreling about whose truck was
louder and both were bloody. One male was given a
courtesy ride to his home at a trailer park off Atlanta
Street in Barnesville.
On June 1, Dep. Weaver worked a child custody
issue with a woman who came to the sheriff’s office
to say her ex-husband had not returned the kids on
time.
