LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY
On June 30, Dep. Holt was dispatched to a home
at 219 Steele Rd. where a man reported a .38 Special
revolver had been stolen. He identified a suspect.
On June 30, Lt. Moore responded to Roger Brown
Drive near the landfill where a resident reported a
suspicious box truck that had been left there for two
weeks. It turned out the truck was stolen from a trans
port company in Lake City.
On June 21, Sgt. Keith Kendrick and other depu
ties executed a search warrant at 121 Main St., Apt.
121 in Milner. Deputies in the area had smelled mari
juana repeatedly near the apartment. They cuffed the
resident, 21-year-old Isaiah D. Berry and searched the
apartment, finding a small amount of marijuana and a
dock .380.
It turned out the gun had been stolen in Macon.
Berry went to jail charged with theft by receiving
stolen property and possession of marijuana.
On July 2, Dep. Weaver responded to Old Hwy. 41
near its intersection with Brown Springs Road regard
ing a one-vehicle accident. He found a disabled 2005
Volvo SUV that had hit and damaged a utility pole.
The driver, Devin Davis, 21, was on the scene. He said
the driver of a flat-bed truck threw a water bottle at
him, causing him to crash. Three witnesses saw no
flat-bed truck.
Davis smelled of alcohol and admitted drinking two
shots of Fireball and smoking half a blunt. Davis was
abusive of deputies. He tested positive for alcohol
and went to jail where he was abusive to EMTs dis
patched for a blood draw and jail staff.
Weaver got a warrant for the blood draw and Davis
had to be forced into a restraint chair for the EMTs to
do their work. He was charged with four counts DUI,
DU1 (drugs), reckless driving, failure to maintain lane,
no seatbelt, driving too fast for conditions, suspended
license, obstruction of an officer, obstruction of emer
gency medical personnel and disorderly conduct.
On July 3, Dep. Patrick Saunders was dispatched
to the intersection of the MLK Bypass and Hwy. 41
South where a northbound car ran the stop sign and
was in the ditch on Hwy. 41. The driver, 44-year-old
Vanessa Green-Cranford, said her brakes locked up
and she skidded through the intersection, taking out
a traffic sign.
Green-Cranford smelled of alcohol and admitted
to having a couple of beers on an empty stomach.
She refused testing and went to jail charged with two
counts DUI, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to
notify owner upon striking a fixed object.
On July 2, Dep. Banta was dispatched to 992 High
Falls Rd. where Robert Mitchell reported that in May
he had turned over a grey 1968 Camaro RS to Douglas
Patrick Ward to be painted. Spalding investigators
reported Ward was known for taking cars to work on
and not returning them.
On July 5, Sgt. Henson was running radar on Hwy.
36 East when he clocked a 2008 Grand Marquis run
ning 74 m.p.h. and then 81 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone.
He stopped the vehicle near Cole Forest and, upon
approach, detected the odor of alcohol. The driver
was identified as William R. Johnston, Jr. The front
seat passenger was William R. Johnston, Sr. who had
an open beer can between his legs. More cans and a
liquor bottle were in the floorboard.
Johnston, Jr. had trouble standing but refused
roadside testing. He was advised his blood would
be drawn at the jail after a warrant was issued. He
replied he was scared of needles and agreed to take
an Intoximeter test at the jail. He blew a .192 and then
a .194. He was charged with two counts DUI, reckless
driving and a super speeder violation.
On July 5 in the same area, Sgt. Henson clocked
a 2007 Honda Accord running 70 m.p.h. and stopped
it. He could smell marijuana and saw shake in the
car and on the person of the driver, 22-year-old Eric
