You can make a difference
BY BENNY TATE
Rock Springs Church pastor
Edward Everette Hale
once said, “1 am only one,
but still 1 am one. 1 can
not do everything, but
still I can do something;
and because 1 cannot do
everything, 1 will not re
fuse to do the something
that 1 can do.”
1 truly believe there is
so much more that con
nects us than divides us.
One of those many things
is discouragement; we
all have experienced it
at some point in life. We
know what it means to
battle feelings of insignifi
cance and self-doubt. It
seems as if so many cir
cumstances and people
in this world are just
waiting to tell us that we
don’t measure up or that
there is a limit to what
we can achieve.
Friend, although we
may experience times of
feeling insignificant or
struggle with discourage
ment, 1 want to report
that those feelings are
not facts. We can have
victory over all things
in life because we were
created on
purpose for a
purpose!
There is no
one else on this
planet like you
and no one else
can do all that
you were cre
ated to do. Re
gardless of your
upbringing, the
mistakes you
have made, or
any circumstances that
have been outside of
your control, God has
a great plan for your
life. With Him, you can
overcome any obstacle in
your path and defy any
odds that are stacked
against you.
For God’s unique plan
to come to fruition in
your life, you must take
action. You must choose
to believe that your life
has great significance
and choose to walk in
your purpose. That
requires you to refuse
to let problems stop you
and to stay committed to
the purpose.
1 hate to be the bearer
of bad news, but there
will always be a problem
standing in the
way of your
success. The
enemy is ready
and waiting
to tell you all
the reasons
you will fail
and people
are quick to
criticize. The
sad fact is that
many people
struggle to cel
ebrate any progress they
are not a part of or to
rejoice over any success
that does not directly
impact their own lives.
While you can’t always
ignore your critics com
pletely, be sure you don’t
focus on them or try to
seek their peace. You
will only experience true
peace and confidence
when you stay focused
on your purpose despite
all of the problems that
arise. Remember, noth
ing great is ever accom
plished with ease.
Along with refusing to
let problems stop you,
staying committed to the
purpose is key to achiev
ing great things in your
life and making a differ
ence. You must decide
ahead of time that quit
ting is not an option.
The enemy wants to
wear you out and make
you feel so overwhelmed
by circumstances in life
that you quit pursuing
your purpose. Refuse to
let anything get in your
way and stay committed.
Only then will you impact
the world and find signifi
cance in life.
There are four groups
of people: the cop-out
who always make excus
es, the hold-outs who are
stuck waiting because
they are too afraid to
commit, the drop-outs
who start but quit when
things get tough, and the
all-outs who are commit
ted to the purpose and
willing to pay the price.
Each and every one
of us was created on
purpose for a purpose,
and we must refuse to
let problems get in our
way and decide from the
start that quitting is not
an option. Let’s make up
our minds today to be all-
outs because we all can
make a difference!
