On honors night, Emi
ly Danielson did not hear
her name called in sever
al categories, though she
had earned recognitions.
Suddenly, she said, she
heard someone call her
name as 2022
salutatorian.
“It was the
biggest shock
of my life,”
she comment
ed. “1 had al
most been in
tears but then
the tears were
happiness
and surprise.”
She and vale
dictorian Zeke
Smith have
“known each
other forev
er,” and both are on track
to become film and video
experts. Danielson will
wear six honor cords at
graduation, almost iden
tical to Zeke’s, except he
doesn’t have chorus and
the International Thespi
an Society. She says they
are “kindred spirits with
different personalities.”
Emily has been in
gifted classes all through
school. Her immediate
plans are to go to Gor
don State College after
graduation, to obtain
a certification in video
editing from the Georgia
Film Academy. She said
she had “no idea film was
an option as a fresh
man,” but as she entered
drama classes with Carol
Parrish she learned she
could achieve her goals.
She is the daughter
of Matthew
Danielson
and the late
Brenna Dan
ielson. Her
siblings’ ages
range from an
older sister,
to a middle
school sister,
to a two-year-
old “baby
brother”
she wishes
she could
spend more
time with.
Danielson has been
instrumental in making
presentation videos for
various LCHS pathways
and other categories,
including a credentialling
video for the JROTC. Em
ily also wrote the play for
the spring choral concert
this year.
“1 value Zeke’s friend
ship,” she said. “While
we have a very different
approach to things, he
has taught me a lot. And
working with Ms. Parrish
is the joy of my life.”

Businessman who can Build and Budget
Building and maintaining the roads of Lamar County must be a top priority
of our local government. This means that road construction will occupy
a significant portion of the county’s budget and require the strongest
oversight by someone with both business and building qualifications.
Twenty-six years of entrepreneurial experience and three US patents in
manufacturing have prepared me well for this task. As your District 2
Commissioner, I will bring the business mindset of “on-time and within
budget” to the transportation projects of our community.
