WALTER GEIGER
news@barnesville.com
The Milner city
council discussed the
purchase of patrol cars
for its police department
and the search for a new
engineering firm at its
regular meeting Sept. 19.
Speaking of one cur
rent patrol vehicle, Bunn
said, ???The wiring is fried.
It has been rebuilt and re
built. We have got to get
some new patrol cars.???
City administrator
Tausha Grose noted
patrol units are expen
sive. ???You are looking at
$50,000 if you buy new
and then you have to put
about $20,000 worth of
equipment on them. We
need at least two cars,???
Grose said.
She and Bunn are
looking at leasing options
and used Department of
Defense vehicles which
have not been used as
patrol cars in the past.
With the new SPLOST
cycle coming up, the city
is also eyeing a bucket
truck and a Bobcat with
different attachments.
???We have nothing like
that now. All our equip
ment is antiquated,???
Grose said.
Grose also told the
council she is searching
