Gaylen George
McKinley
Mr. Gaylen George McKinley, age 71, of Barnes-
ville, Ga., died Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his
residence. Mr. McKinley was
born April 19, 1952, in Thom-
aston, Ga. to the late George
Aldine “Mack” McKinley and
Burdie Long McKinley Bran
non. Mr. Gaylen graduated
from Yatesville High School
and then went on to Auburn
University, graduated with
Civil Engineering, P.E, “War
Eagle” all the way. He was self-
employed at McKinley Envi
ronmental and Engineering Consultants. He was his
own electrician and plumber and could fix and build
anything. His passion was old cars and he loved his
dogs, they were his best pals around the house. He
loved sitting on the porch, having a good time with
his family and friends. He loved his baby girls. He was
a devoted father, grandfather and friend. He had a lot
of friends that adored him and he adored them just
as much.
He is preceded in death by his father. Survivors
include his mother, Burdie Long McKinley Brannon of
Thomaston; wife, Kay Smith McKinley of Barnesville;
daughters, Adrian Griffith of Thomaston, and Callie
(Sam) Coker of Thomaston; sister, Sharon (Hardy)
Mitchell of Thomaston; grandchildren, Avery Rae
Griffith, Mattie Griffith, Marlie Kelly, Maizy Kelly,
Tatum Coker, Easton Harris, and Benji Harris; step
son, Seth (Charlie) Harris of Griffin; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Dan (Donna) Smith of Griffin, Robert W.
Smith of Griffin, Michael W. Smith of Easton, Nancy
Smith (Terry) Gordy of Griffin; and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 3, 2023,
at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.
Burial followed at Southview Cemetery. The family
received friends Monday, July 3, 2023, from 10-11 a.m.
at Coggins Funeral Home.
Iris Renfroe Becker
Mrs. Iris Renfroe Becker, age 89, of Milner, Geor
gia passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Atrium
Navicent Medical Center in
Macon, Georgia.
Iris was born on Saturday,
July 22, 1933, in Dudley, Geor
gia, to the late William Irvin
Renfroe and the late Minnie
Stephens Renfroe.
In addition to her parents,
Iris was preceded in death
by her loving husband of
66 years, Robert Ray “Bob”
Becker, and siblings: Deluth Haynes, Katie Thomp
son, Hughea Renfroe, Herbert Renfroe, Chattie Loran
Renfroe, Eloise Yancey, and Flossie Darsey. Iris was
a member of Milner Baptist Church and sang in the
choir for many years. She enjoyed traveling with Bob
and together they visited all 50 states and Canada.
Iris was a huge baseball fan and watched every
Braves game she could. She also loved to garden,
fish, and play cards with friends. She loved spending
time with family, cooking, and loving on her grand
children.
Iris is survived by her 92-year old brother Rus
sell Renfroe; her children and their spouses; Robin
Becker and Dewayne Holder, Sharon Becker Gable
and fiance Terry Smith, William Robert and Michele
Becker; grandchildren and their spouses; Stuart
and Nina Holder, Melissa and Matthew Chizek, Paige
Gable and fiance Artie Nicolaus, Katie and Matt
Carhart, and Brandon and Bailey Stewart; and as of
June 30, 2023, Charlotte Iris Chizek, Iris’ newest great
grandchild was born.
A funeral service for Mrs. Iris Becker was held
on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Milner Bap
tist Church with Brother Brad Ellington officiating.
Friends visited with the family on Thursday, July
6, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral
home. Interment followed the service in the church
cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests dona
tions be made to Milner Baptist Church, 107 Pecan
Drive, Milner, Georgia 30257 or the American Cancer
Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Lloyd Hammock
Mr. Lloyd Hammock age 80 of Barnesville Ga, died
Friday July 7, 2023 at his residence.
Mr. Hammock was born on
February 24, 1943 in Sylacau-
ga Al, to the late James Ham
mock and the late Lillian Miz-
zell Hammock. He worked for
Delta Airlines as an Aircraft
Mechanic and Landing Gear
Inspector and retired after
over 28 years of service. Mr.
Hammock served his country
in the U.S. Marine Corps. In
addition to his parents he is
preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Wanda Bell
Hammock; brothers, Neil Hammock, Joe Hammock,
and Ray Hammock, as well as his sister, Annette Ham
mock.
Survivors include his daughter Terri (George)
Moseley of Barnesville Ga.; sons Greg (Mitzi) Ham
mock of Barnesville Ga. and Michael Hammock of
Barnesville Ga.; grandchildren Elizabeth Hammock,
Natalie Hammock, Samantha Hammock, Levi Moseley,
Logan Moseley.
Lloyd loved to hunt, fish, play golf, watch GA Tech
Football, Braves Baseball and of course drink his
whiskey! He also loved his family and spending time
with them. One of his greatest joys was his grandchil
dren and having them come spend time with him. He
loved all of them very much and was proud of each
one of them.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, July
11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from Crystal Hill Cemetery. The
family received friends at Coggins Funeral Home on
Monday July 10, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Thomas Norman
Anderson, Sr.
Thomas Norman Anderson Sr., age 73 passed away
at his home Sunday, July 2, 2023. Mr. Anderson was
born March 30, 1950, to his
parents Hugh Bennett (Ben)
and Freda Mae Adams Ander
son.
Thomas was a graduate of
Gordon Military High School
class of 1969. He worked
many years for the William
Carter Company. After Cart
ers closed, he went to work
for IEA where he really loved
his job and coworkers and
made many new friends. Later years he was a secu
rity guard at Aldora Mills.
He enjoyed working with his hands and could
often be found tinkering in his workshop. Thomas
loved his family and friends, his cats, and watching
Pro Wrestling. Growing up in the 1960’s he also loved
his rock and roll music.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, his
second wife Teresa Anderson, older brother Hugh B.
Anderson, Jr., and his son Thomas N. (TJ) Anderson,
Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Wendy Anderson
Greer; grandchildren Taylor Anderson, Darien Greer,
Haley Greer, Dakota Anderson, and Amber Anderson;
his brother James Anderson (Linda); sister-in-law
Rita Anderson and nieces Amy Anderson and Paige
Anderson van Lenten; his uncle Thomas (Tommy)
Adams and his children Renee and Tommy.
A funeral service for Mr. Thomas Anderson was
held Monday, July 10, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the Breed
love Memorial Chapel. Friends visited the family from
2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral
home.

Ann Marie Nash
Ms. Ann Marie Nash of Barnesville, Georgia passed
away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
Ann was born on Saturday, December 10, 1949, in
Opa-locka, Florida. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing,
and sewing clothes for her children and grandchil
dren. Ann was preceded in death by her mother Anna
Belle Albritton Mooney and her father Rufus Albrit
ton.
Ms. Ann is survived by sons Bryan (Melissa) Cline;
Daniel (Michelle) Nash; her special friend David
Branham; one grandson, William two granddaughters
Hannah and Karma, two sisters Sandy Smith and Nita
Snowball and two brothers Steven and Eddie (Mary-
anne) Albritton as well as nieces, nephews, and many
close friends.
A funeral service was held for Ms. Ann Marie Nash
on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. at Breedlove
Memorial Chapel. Friends visited with the family from
4:00 p.m. until the hour of service.

Cheryl Elaine
Blackmon
Mrs. Cheryl Elaine Blackmon, aged 64 of Yatesville,
Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on Sun
day, June 25, 2023.
Mrs. Blackmon was born
on June 28, 1958 in Griffin,
Georgia, grew up in Johnston-
ville in Lamar County and
made Yatesville her home
twenty-one years ago. She is
preceded in death by her par
ents, Joe and Sandra Craw
ford, and her brothers, Joey
and Rodney Crawford.
Survivors include her
husband of forty-eight years, Tony Blackmon; her
children, Amanda Zarovsky, Melody Roscoe, Scott
Blackmon and Daniel Blackmon; her brother Michael
Crawford; fifteen grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Mrs. Blackmon will be deeply missed by everyone.
We know she is not in anymore pain or discomfort
and that her wishes were granted to pass peacefully
in her own bed, watching Netflix shows that she
adored.
There were no services held, as she was cremat
ed, with future plans to scatter her ashes with her
mother and brother’s graves in Barnesville, and to
finally go to the Pacific Ocean.
Safe travels Mama, until our souls find each other
again, be happy and be healthy once more.

Geraldine Smith
Faulkner
Mrs. Geraldine Smith Faulkner, age 91, of Milner,
Saturday, July 8, 2023, at
Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin.
Geraldine was born on
Wednesday, June 22, 1932, in
Cartersville, Georgia to the
late Effee Smith and to the
late Lillie Loudermilk Smith.
Along with her parents, she
was preceded in death by her
husband, Reverend David Ar
nold Faulkner; her daughter,
Connie H. Hulsey; daughter-
in-law, Dianne Faulkner; five brothers and five sisters.
Geraldine was a member of Rock Springs Church. She
enjoyed cooking as well as gardening.
Geraldine is survived by her children and their
spouses, Danny A. Faulkner (Sheila Diane), Jerry
Allen Faulkner (Ann), Frank Hulsey (Pamela), Jackie
E. Faulkner (Susan), Sandy Faulkner, Alvin Faulkner
(Fiance Kimberly Higgins); 18 grandchildren; sev
eral great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Chambers;
brother-in-law, Charles Faulkner; sisters-in-law, Mil
dred Corley, Frances Lowe; as well as several nieces
and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Geraldine Faulkner will
be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Rock
Springs Church with Pastor Richie Hulsey and Pastor
Cameron Shifflett officiating. Friends may visit with
the family from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at
the church. Interment will follow the service in the
church cemetery.

Stanley said down
town business owners
had come to her about
having the block party. “I
have a relationship with
them,” she said.
Claxton countered
that six owners had
come to her with con
cerns about closing off
the street and hurting
their business on a
Saturday. She also said
the city would have to be
involved with prepara
tion and policing.
“I am not quite sure
the city is onboard with
this idea,” Tuttle added.
Claxton made a mo
tion the event be post
poned until more plan
ning can be done and it
passed unanimously.
The authority did
vote to approve a t-shirt
fundraiser as long as the
shirts are pre-sold with
no up front cost to the
city or the DDA.
