SAKY COMMISSION Eli.
The election for mayor, aider
men and dispensary commissioner
was held Tuesday, the time ap
pointed by law, and it was an
unusually quiet election. There
was no opposition to the parties
who were elected and hence a full
vote was not polled. There was
deep interest felt but as it was all
one way people put themselves
to no extra trouble to cast their
ballots. However, people of the
city are unanimous in rejoicing
over the result. Not only good
men are elected for all the ofi'ices
but it gave the people another
opportunity of taking a hand in
making up the dispensary com
mission and another of Judge
Reagan’s appointes is displaced.
The following are the men elect
ed Tuesday:
For Mayor,
T. W. Cochran.
For Aldermen,
D. L. Anderson,
M. W. Smith,
H. H. Gray.
Fcr Dispensary Commissioner,
W. C. Jordan.
At the primary nomintion lie lei
Monday vhich nominated the
above the following members were
elected as the City Executive com
mitee for the next two yejp'ir-:
W. J. Williamson, V. O. Marsh
burn, W. C. Stafford, J. T. Mid
dlebrooks, W. R. Mitchell.
Sometime since at a meeting of
citizens, Mr. Otis A. Murphey
was nominated for mayor but
under the law he was ineligible,
being at present an alderman, and
hence his name was withdrawn.
The ticket as elected is a thor
oughly representative one and its
election gives great satisfaction to
the people of the city, rhey will
be installed on September Bth.
