gnat Qa,
CAMPBELL’S manly words.
Ex-Governor Campbell of Ohio,
in an interview said:
Every true Democrat should rally
|at this crisis about the standard of
the party. This talk of a possible
split should cease. These he trying
1 tunes for the Democracy. Tho party
bas met three bitter defeats since
the victories of 1892. It, is just as
well not to ask why. or blow in the
ashes of the past for reasous. Every
man who goes as a dtltgate to the
next convention should go there
pledged to himself to support the
candidate and accept the platform of
that convention.
No matter who may be named to
make the canvass, no matter what
the platform may contain, they
should be accepted and the only hope
of party continuation lies in their
acceptance. A delegate who goes to
Chicago with the intention to stay if
the majority agrees with him, and
who means to belt if his notion of
men and measure is voted down, is
a traitor in advance. He has no bus
ness in the convention.
I have my views on finance as full
and clear as any man, yet j say that
if next summers Democratic conven
tion declares for gold monomeutallism
und against silver 112 any form for all
time, and then names an utter gold
• bug as the candidate for the presi
dency', I will give my full and faith
tul support to the tiefcet and do my
best to put it through. This is no
time for interparty quarrels.
The purchasers of the Marietta
and North Georgia railroad failed to
make the first payment for the road
and it, is probable that they will lose
the certified check for $95,000 which
accompanied the bid and the road
will be sold again.

BE YE BUILDER^.
Tbe people who are of most use in
the world are those who are builders.
There is small room in the economy
of humanity or the iconoclast. While
he is destroying a few scattered fal
lacies’ he is liable to undermine or
deface the most symmetrical of hu
man hopes. The builders keep the
world moving. Not alone those who
erect the mighty momuments and
noble edifices, but tbe builders up of
instutions that contribute to the
happiness of mankind.
Builders of factories and business
enterprises are the ones who contrib
ute most largely to the success of a
community. They plan and execute
institutions that equalize tbe labors
and the burdens of their fellows,
They provide useful and profitable
employment for those without tho
means of building on th ir own ac
count. These are the men to whom
all honor is due.
Then the builders up of social or
ganizations for the promotion of
kindlier and more sympathetic inter
course among men. They are the
promoters of human happiness. Be
ye builders of good works, notbreak
ers down of established ideals that
contribute to the comfort of the
world. A man is never so happy
otherwise as when planning some
good work or contemplating its suc
cessful completion.—Rome Tribune.
It not only is so, it must be so.

The Boston Herald is of the opin
ion that Georgia would confer upon
the nation an essential service if
she were to send Congressman Turn

a pity to send a st,desman, like Hen

at present situated; be would get so
lonesome.

1 An almond tree in full bloom at
Hawkinsville in the yard of Mr. E.
K. Ragan is regarded as quite a cu

trees that are cultivated in this state.
Unless it is vi.-ited by a freeze Mr.
Ragan expects to gather a crop of
nuts from it this year. Experience
shows that Georgia soil will not only
grow fruit trees, but that is suitable
for almost any other kind of tree
