■' BEN GRIFFIN TALKS AT
1 BAPTIST GATHERING
The members of the First
(Baptist Church had a combin
ation business and social
meeting at the elementary
school lunch room on Thurs
day night. Mr. Ben Griffin,
(Methodist Layman from Haw
kinsville, spoke to the gatner
ing on the subject of tithing.
The ladies of the Church
prepared a delicious barbecue
dinner with the assistance of
Darby White. The ladies of
the Methodist Church asked
that they might have the
pleasure of serving the dinner
so the Baptist could more
thoroughly enjoy their social
hour. Ben, a native of Donal
sonville and loved by us all,
caught a glimpse of some Me
thodist ladies before the door
was closed between them. We
■think the first thought was
Ithat many of his old friends
i had fallen from grace since he
was last here. Then in his
usual way he quipped; “Those
Methodist ladies back there
didn’t close that door to keep
out the noise from the kitch
en—they’ve heard me speak
before.”
All Methodists of the town
have been swelling with pride
since Thursday night as the
Baptists have been very liber
al in their high praise of Ben
and the wonderful talk he de
livered.
Friends miss seeing Mrs.
R. A. Baxley at Thomas 10c
