Those who failed to attend
the art exhibit at the Music
Shop last Friday staged by
the art students of Mr. Claude
Peacock missed a free show
worth paying for, and we did
not even drink any of their
punch.
After viewing the many
beautiful 1 and outstanding
paintings we began looking at
the “fine print” in the corn
ers. It’s shocking to realize
that as you walk up and down
the streets of our town, you’re
meeting up with artists in
stead of ladies you heretofore
thought were just common
ole’ housewives, storekeepers,
bookkeepers, etc. The paint
ings were not exactly for sale,
but we managed to purchase
one. If our money had held
out, we are afraid they would
have been left with nothing
to display except bare walls.
Mr. Peacock’s adult classes
and Mrs. Herb Crosby’s child
ren’s classes for June and July
began Wednesday of this
week at the Music Shop. —cl

We noticed an article in The
Atlanta Journal a few days
ago which will interest the
many friends of the Rev.
George Ingram, pastor of the
Church of God at Hazelhurst.
George, who was reared in
Seminole County, announced
to his congregation that the
balance due on their brick
church building erected*two
or three years ago amounted
to about $4010.00. The offering
plate was passed and now they
are planning a mortgage burn
ing ceremony. Many of us of
other denominations here in
Seminole County would be
glad to “let George do it” for
us, too. —cl

Mrs. Roger L. Way and
daughter, Debbie Johnson,
were joined by Mr. Way at
'Swainsboro where they spent
the week end and attended a
Way family reunion. Mr. Way
is employed by Babcock and
Wilcox and presently is sta
tioned in Milledgeville where
his firm is erecting a new
Georgia Power house.
It is with genuine regret
that we lose as citizens of our
town Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Mor
gan and their son, Sammy,
who left Sunday for their
home in northeast Alabama.
Mr. Morgan operated a mech
anical cotton picker here three
seasons before moving here
to operate the Green Top Mo
tel and Restaurant almost two
years ago. We don’t need to
lose good citizens like the Mor
gans, but need more like them
to move here. The good wish
es of the entire community go
with them and they will be
missed by the host of friends
they made while here.

As we go to press, Mrs.

Friends hope that she will
